   depends on the study, there are some studies where you just go in for bi-weekly check ups and you get a check then, for a couple of months, theres some where you're stuck there at the place for a few weeks and you get one lump sum. Every study is different, and that fact that OP is asking for our opinion on whether he should do it or not with out telling us more details on the pay out makes it sound like he's not serious about it any ways.
   
   Most places you top out at 3k tops if its a long term study

    if you take pills for things like stress or whatever.. do they consider you still a candidate for their tests?
    
    how long is a test to get 3k? do they feed you and give you room and board? cause I live part time out of my car when I can't stay with my gf. sometimes in her garage area but only when it's freezing cold which is rare these past few years.
