If I was well-adjusted like him I'd be pro-globohomo, fo sho
Ehhhh, he might have a bit of a point though. If you were "happier" (read: had a happier early life, could feel the general sense of contentment and complacency that 'normies' feel), you probably wouldn't find globohomo so threatening. Kinda pointless to think about that though really, since you're you and not some other happier version of you.
"Haha if your neurochemistry and life experiences were completely different you'd probably be okay with the stuff you hate" is such a fucking non-statement. -

So basically,
If he didn't have such a stick up his ass, he wouldn't be such an asshole. -

I mean, would I be happier instead being the alternative? Being angry at trump and wondering why the democrats aren't making it easier for retail workers/baristas/whatever to get UBI? Always waiting for the beloved government to step in and implement a workers paradise?
I guess if I had a political goal it would be to redpill conservatives and build more parallel institutions. We are so laughably far away from anything that could be considered 'winning' it's insane to think any of this can be halted, let alone reversed. -

It's more about, what the fuck marriage actually means if it's not a stable union centered around pro-creation. Not at all unique to catholicism.
I think the answer is, it's now meaningless. Cool, can just replace that gaping cultural hole with the new star wars movie. -

Well, as was stated, plenty of straight marriages cant procreate.
Idk. I've never thought of marriage as a procreation thing. It's some man made term to me that basically signifies two people that want to make their love more formal or whatever the fuck. Its effectively meaningless. -

It's the same shit they always come out with, no matter what the topic. This is the standard response, and it goes something like this.
1. You aren't perfect, therefore why would you want to improve things?
2. No one cares about your opinions, therefore why have them?
3. You don't run things, therefore why have opinions.
4. If you were happier - meaning dumber - you wouldn't care.
Originally posted by Obbe Since you question everything now, try questioning your own "high standards". Why would anyone else in the world care about how you think they should be living their lives? Seeing as you're ill equipped to do anything about it your opinions seem pretty meaningless. Perhaps if you were a happier person, seeing other people be happy wouldn't seem so threatening.

this explains a lot
the basis of marriage has always been family and reproduction - perhaps more than anything else, forcing men to remain in a relationship and support their children for the sake of that society's future. in many ancient societies bachelorhood beyond a certain age was banned. -

Yeah, that was the basis of marriage for a long time because your kids weren't guaranteed to make it through to adulthood, so it payed off to have a lot of them. It doesn't mean it has to be that way forever. Society has advanced, and ancient customs are no longer needed. Anyone who is stuck believing in the importance of ancient customs is a moron. It's time to wake up and face the liberal future. -

it's a more elegant solution than punitive child support and alimony.
PS. fuck you and your two dads -
2021-01-27 at 3:57 AM UTCWhy even have marriage as an institution if it's no longer fit for purpose then?
it's like we're dancing around in skin torn from its carcass just for fun -
2021-01-27 at 3:58 AM UTCI don't really care one way or another about gay marriage, but the thought of old people getting married disgusts me on a visceral level.

No it's not lol. It forces people to be in a relationship they don't want to be in. That's why most cultures decided not to do it anymore. Society can find a way to support children without that shit. The idea that men need a mother and father is ludicrous and based in ancient bigotry.
Child support works. Alimony works. The alternative before was that people would leave anyway and the kids and mom would just starve to death.
You literally want to go backwards in society. -

The point of marriage is taxes. That's it. It's a piece of paper. There is no other significance. You just have some backwards ass idea. Maybe you should go hang out with tribal Pakistanis or something. You guys would have a lot in common. -
2021-01-27 at 4:14 AM UTCI love talking constantly about how I'm engaged.
Because now it is the main focus of my life, I just want to tell everyone and talk about it all the time. Especially around my single friends to remind them how they aren't even dating, let alone engaged.
I learned over 9000 ways to change the topic back to my engagement.
If people are talking about dogs, I love saying things like "my fiancee has a dog" then change the topic back to my fiancee and my engagement.
Or if I'm out at lunch and people are being inconsiderate talking about something else, I might say something like "I better not eat too much, I already bought my wedding dress and want to make sure I still fit it when we get married! lololol"
If someone comments on the weather, I will say something like "It can rain all it wants now.. so long as it doesn't rain on the [insert wedding date]" Then I pause so they ask about the date and tell them all about my planned wedding!
If I'm around strangers and nobody is talking (like on a bus or train) I might play with my engagement ring, laugh at text messages my fiance sent me a week ago or sigh loudly just to start a conversation about my engagement. If those fail I just put on my veil (I always carry it with me) and hum the wedding theme tune loudly while examining my ring in front of them.
Another good way to start talking about my engagement is ask people their opinion on wedding related things, like cakes, venues, dresses or asking people what they love most about being engaged.
My plan is to continue directing all conversation to my engagement for 6mths or so, then to my wedding for another 6mths.. then I'm not sure.. I will probably spend 6mths of finding ways to insert "my hubby" into every second sentence.
Once all of those topics have been used up I will probably get pregnant... -
