How can two gay people be 'married'?

I mean, they might think they can imitate a healthy mind, hide behind a smiling face.
But behind that mask they still view their world as a threatening and lonely place. Right?
I'll engage with you in good faith. It's probably like trying to play checkers with an orangutan - you'll probably just get confused and fling shit at me - but I'm feeling charitable.
There's a case to be made that I care way too much about politics, and I'd be happier if I didn't.
But my mental health was in the gutter back when I used to be a socialist. So much worse, I don't even think I'm recognizable anymore. -

Is gay marriage really about politics for you? How so?
It's interesting that you feel you've changed for the better. When you felt "sicker", did you view gay marriage differently than you currently do? -

Anybody who has something against gay marriage is a fucking moron. It literally doesn't effect you in any way. Any argument against it usually boils down to some bullshit reason about 'society' as if those people actually have a moral right to police what people do in the freedom of their own bedroom.
Maybe I'll start a movement against straight marriage. Frankly, I see way more straight couples who are fucking up society than gay couples. There's gotta be something to it. Hitler was in a straight marriage. -

I think so. It was a political issue. It's a common theme we see in progressive politics - standards lowering. You lower the standards of who can become a Canadian, what a marriage means, what a 'woman' is etc etc.
I like having high standards.

Yeah, I had the default lib view of gay marriage. Omg man what does it even matter it doesn't effect you at all lolol etc.
Now I'm questioning everything. What the fuck does a marriage even mean if two fags can do it? Surely the idea is the union of two people so they can raise children. I suppose marriage is a pretty meaningless concept at this point. Probably explains the divorce rates. -

Damn
First he learns how credit works, now he realizes marriage is meaningless except between two individuals and how the government taxes them.
I swear it's like watching a boy grow into a man right before our very eyes -

I mean I don't think he meant it had to be something deeper. Assuming good faith he was simply asking what the point was between two people who have no hope of procreating, which is the most obvious reason for marriage to exist - to strengthen the bonds between parents in a new family, to tie them together, and to make it easier for them to start a family of their own. On the face of it, gay marriage does kinda seem silly. Even the aforementioned tax benefits are meant to promote the growth of families.
And critically thinking, sure, adoption is an obvious answer. But nobody sane wants to think about gays adopting kids, because the gays reproduce by molesting them. -

This is a weak argument. Marriage is a social construct. Anyone who believes it needs to be for procreation has already put on blinders.
Its funny how these people believe construct isnt a gender but somehow this totally intangible thing called marriage is 100% real and set in stone somewhere and must be protected because hey WHITE CULTURE.
Totally ignoring the fact that most germanic tribes were polygamist but hey MARRIAGE. Two people. Man woman! I say so! -

Marriage lets you save time doing taxes.
All individuals should have the right to save time doing taxes with whomever they please.
Lack of gay marriage is a lack of individual rights. -

Marriage tax benefits are intended to reduce financial stress on new family units, so they can have an easier time expanding the family unit. It's soft eugenics. Gay marriage is dysgenic. Marriage is a eugenics program so what place does dysgenic gay marriage have in it? It's a fair question. -
2021-01-26 at 5:03 AM UTCNo it's not and you know it isn't. Keep playing devil's advocate tho

Since you question everything now, try questioning your own "high standards". Why would anyone else in the world care about how you think they should be living their lives? Seeing as you're ill equipped to do anything about it your opinions seem pretty meaningless. Perhaps if you were a happier person, seeing other people be happy wouldn't seem so threatening. -

I knew you'd have nothing worthwhile to say. *sigh* I tried. -
2021-01-26 at 10:59 PM UTCYou tried pushing your meaningless assertions that nobody cares about, of course you failed miserably yet again.
