Sometimes when I was little I used to get scared that gravity would reverse and everyone would fall up into the sky.

My insignificance on a universal scale gives me a bit of peace, but it also causes me anxiety.

I don't mind being small compared to the vastness of the cosmos. Whatever the reason is that all of this exists, it's clear that it isn't made for us. We are grains of sand on a vast playground, and it simply does not care for us. We might as well be quantum scale compared to the universe, brief blips in time that you can examine with a telescope. And even if we became a great civilisation, an intergalactic presence like no other, colonizing hundreds of millions of galaxies, establishing an empire billions of light-years large... At our zenith, we will be nothing in the face of infinity.
