its not about the gun in the US since everyone is free to bear some.
its either about being able to dress tactically, or love the perks and benefits, or to kill, or to be able to be with other men, or to be able to blow shits up, or have an iq too low anything else, or being mere victims of democratic propaganda to serve and protect democracy.
or all of the above. -

no I mean I'd never considered before how many people join the military as a last resort, now I'm wondering how many people join simply because they're unable to get access to a gun (for suicide) any other way. ie if they're too young, too poor or too dumb -

You'd have to be pretty stupid to suicide by gun nowadays. Fentanyl is available at every street corner. Do your family a favour.
What I'm saying is that many people may decide to join once they hit rock bottom. For many, it could be a choice between homelessness, killing oneself, and living in a barracks possibly on the path to a better life. -

CCR
Wasn't fortunate to be a senators son. that is the reason. war came, didn't come from wealth and needed college assistance and potential of an easier house loan and job skills.. ended up with PTSD. you shouldn't simplify them like this.
You dont need a gun to kill yourself. it might make it more dramatic if they're first spray a nightclub and then suicide by cop but it's not a reason to join. -

idk, joining the military takes time.
people who would suicide normally are the type that need instant gratification and cant wait or dont have high eq, which is why they choose suicide over attempts at life,
people who could put up with drill sgts drilling their asses and bs trainings normally have what it takes to put up with shits life throws at them. -
