Half the places here in Canada have natural gas stoves. Those will boil water on the stove as fast as a kettle will. Kettles are still common tho. Every lunch room has one.
Yeah but lots of people don't clean it regularly. When I boil in a pot I get a clean dish every time and it's a lot easier to clean. Doesn't take up space on the counter either.
