More nurses have now died from COVID-19 than nurses that died during WWI
-
2020-10-31 at 11:52 PM UTCThose nurses weren't frontline. If they ended up on the frontlines, that was by accident. Medics are on the frontlines, not nurses.
What is the comparison here? -

In response to the title of this thread, yes. Women were not sent to retrieve wounded soldiers during WWI. They were rarely in the line of fire. It they were, it was because the city had been overrun or something. Hence the statistic saying more nurses died from corona than during wwi... it attempts to make it seem huge, while it isn't. -

We’re not talking nurses at war. That distinction has already been made. And if you think there are no nurses that they call “medics” during wartime, you’d be sadly mistaken. -

He's making some arbitrary distinction between 'medics' and 'nurses' that is entirely grounded in his own imagination and not adherent to any definition by any accredited institution.
He's also saying that nurses who work in hospitals are not on the frontlines, which is another one of his arbitrary constructs he uses to make the world fit his mold. I don't know what he thinks the front lines are. Every nurse is exposed to the public, even if they aren't directly dealing with COVID patients. I mean what the fuck? The contact matters. Any medical field dealing with patients is front line right now.
People like him pack things into nice little boxes. It helps them cope with the world, but again, it is not reflective of reality. -

2020-11-01 at 12:30 AM UTCDid you learn your history from playing Battlefield 5?
Nurses were not combat medics. They were not at significant risk of being killed in action during WWI. So why are you comparing their corona virus death toll to their killed in action death toll? -

Because they were killed in action in both instances. Are you dumb? -

Yes. Up until 1947, the US army nurse corps consisted entirely of white women. In fact, the reason they allowed male nurses is because they were requested on the front lines during Korea (instead of relying just on medics).
Using this statistics of nursing deaths as a measuring stick to show how severe corona is... is just laughable. In line with most other fake news, or distorted news, being posted. -

You are correct and I am wrong. There are make nurses everywhere now.
