Originally posted by Jiggaboo_Johnson I have these little devices, Sonas or something like that that works via wifi and connect to Alexa…I've chopped it inline to all the devices I want Alexa to turn on and off, fans, lamps, raspberry pis etc…their default state is off…so to turn shit on you have to ask alexa as plugging it in or flicking a wall switch doesn't work.
There IS a little button on the device itself but as 9 out of 10 of the fuckers are behind cupboards or behind the couch etc and what with me being a lazy twat (hence installing the fucking things in the first place) I'll sit in the dark till the bitch comes back online.
ETA: These things, paid like $2.50 each or something like that
Have you ever experimented with other ways of interacting with them in case Alexa isn't working right?
Like, for me, while I do have an Alexa and have some voice commands connected to some of my devices, I also have various other ways to control a lot of them.
Some of these methods are also cloud based (like Alexa), like IFTTT (I have an icon on my cell phone menu to toggle some light switches, for instance).
And, I even have some setups where I control devices programmatically with Python, which don't even leave my local network.
The latter method can be a major pain in the ass though when it comes to extracting any smart device's key data from its firmware and all that. -

These are a bit retarded to be honest...(you get what you pay for etc)...they use their own app called Elink or something like that...which you then link to Alexa. So you install the device, install Elink, link the device and name it, then have Alexa "learn new skill" add Elink, rename the devices again..etc etc.
Yes I can operate them via Elink if Alexa is down..theoretically...but chances are if it's not working it's a problem with the Elink anyway and no Alexa...I just blame her because she's my interface.
At some point I'll redo them all with something better. -

That actually reminds me of this security camera I bought once that stopped working because the company that manufactures it went out of business or something like that, and the software for it stopped working.
There's a definite trade off with a lot of these devices. They're great when they work, but disasters when they don't. -

Incorrect. You cannot "secretly keep" data hidden in overwritten data. You are retarded. Hillary didnt delete anything maliciously as was proven by the DOJ investigation. That shit was just deleted from the recycle bin. -

Originally posted by Lanny Yeah pretty much. Ive has this conversation like a dozen times now. I’m not the morality police of NiS. Why do you delete finny posts? -

As if child porn wasn't.
There's no reason at all to delete or harass finny's posts, especially the posts that contain valuable information other users would like to read. Valid content should never be trashed or deleted. Lanny already knows this. It's just that he's a card-carrying Fun Bunch goon with a lifetime membership. -
2020-10-23 at 12:47 AM UTCI like that Lanny routinely bans Finny.
I just want to hear his excuse for being hypocritical. -
2020-10-23 at 1:02 AM UTCOn Zoklet, just after I resigned my mod position (due to the staff's rank abuse of authority, harassments of valid content and constant bullshit infractions on good members), Lanny wanted me permabanned, just because he didn't like/agree with my posts criticizing him and his ultra-liberal cronies. I never spammed or spread PI or broke any rule, but he still wanted me banned. So when he couldn't get me banned, he used his own mod powers to tie a script into his moderator account and put over 50,000 infraction points on my account, effectively banning me for 500 years, knowing full well someone would have to sit there for hours and reverse them all by hand. Then zok found out what he'd done and removed his moderator powers and perma-banned HIM off Zoklet. Just so you know what you are dealing with here... a kamikaze kid, who will stop at nothing to get at you, just because he either doesn't like you, or he personally disagrees with/dislikes your posts.

No, infinityshock's main account is not permabanned. The ban expires shortly.

They're the cumulative bans I think. He keeps spamming and spamming. I report him every time. I report frala too and just people I don't like or just for fun. Lanny said he bans people for that but he hasn't banned me.
But sure. I post my butthole ONCE and look what happens?
What does this meanms?
Lanny is racist
