What’s wrong with mail in ballots for the 2020 election?

  1. aldra JIDF Controlled Opposition
reading the thread, the idea is that some states have very lax standards for requesting a ballot and they can be requested to any address, not just the one on file - you just need a name, DOB and signature (which they don't check).

Requesting a replacement ballot does not invalidate the person's vote if they've already voted, but you can change their party affiliation, cast a vote etc.

Now they're talking about using census software and a python script to mass-invalidate ballots lul

I guess you could do it, but they'll get a pink ballot in the mail and know something is amuck. In Florida it just comes to your registered voter address.

You need your social by federal law

Also not sending the ballots to only registered addresses is a fantastic thing. Homeless people deserve to vote. Moving people deserve to vote. I mean wtf? That information is years old. People move, aldra...

Didn't even remember but yeah you have to enter your SSN

I didn't say it was a good or bad thing, just that that's how it's exploitable.

That law only governs initial registration though doesn't it?

Don't think so. Can you name any states without the requirement? I applied for a mail in ballot and I had to give my social.

Also there's no evidence its being abused so your point is moot. This isn't a new thing. No proof of widespread or influential voter fraud has ever been found.

Trump did vote twice through the mail in 2018 tho, which is probably why he's worried about it.

I remember a bunch of stories of people complaining that their party registration had been changed a few years back, was just brushed off as them being insane or system error at the time but this could explain it

The online voter portal for Washington State only requires the name and date of birth of a voter for a login. Dates of birth are a matter of public record for many people, either through social media, government and court documents, or Wikipedia pages, not to mention millions of hacked personal records available for sale on the darkweb.

Upon login, a person can view the voter’s registration information and other details, including the registered address and ballot status. The portal also allows voters to request a new ballot, which the person can fill out online, print out, and mail to the election authorities to vote. The ballot package needs to be signed and the signature would be matched by the authorities to the one they have on record.

However, the page warns that “if you continue, a ballot previously mailed to you will be cancelled,” suggesting that somebody can log in and cancel another person’s ballot by requesting a new one.

To register to vote online in Washington state, you will need a driver's license or a state ID. These may be more difficult to obtain right now because of office closures due to COVID-19. You can register to vote by mail without a driver's license by supplying part of your Social Security number on the form.

Yet again you are wrong, Aldra.

Please stop pretending like you know how anything works in my country.

    2. if anything in your country 'worked' you wouldn't have had to sneak into the US in the back of a livestock transport

no I'm talking about accessing the details of people who are already registered to vote

requesting a new ballot to invalidate any they have
    obtaining their personal information
    changing their party affiliation

actually registering or submitting a vote is more protected in most places
