Never met anyone with an electric kettle here, although I have used them abroad and I am a fan. Just takes up counter space tho. It's one of those bitchboy gadgets that doesn't actually add to the functionality of your kitchen, but just makes things marginally easier.
Any1 with even a little bit of money has a coffee maker that dispenses near boiling water. This is just a bonus however. You need a gadget to make coffee. It is acceptable. Electric kettles are not. They're good for dorm rooms. -
