The imam I've been closest with is a traditional Sunni but everything I read leads me towards sufism. When I go to masjid I go to the sunni mosque because of the Imam but there is a sufi mosque about a block from it that I am thinking of checking out. My first introduction to religion was buddhism, if you werent so busy jack kerowhackin off you'd have seen I posted a few buddhist/meditation/mindfulness threads on zoklet and totse2 shitfucks that came after.
Aspects of Buddhism are extremely important to practice but the organized part I've been pretty disenchanted with after some local events. I followed buddhism to some degree and advanced in the local thing a bit.
Islam is my pick of the monotheistic ones. Christianity is unifying but is kinda ridiculous and not even really a monotheistic one if you're support to worship the legend of Jesus AND da holy ghost and the less we say about the other the better. I think Jesus was a real nigga and a good guy I fux wit but to practice an organized monotheistic religion Islam is obviously the way to go.
Islam is just what works for me. Sometimes I pray informally like with my hands laying down being lazy like a christian and my prayers don't even feel as powerful. Islam contains so SO many aspects of mindfulness it's very close to buddhism in a lot of ways, especially sufism which are the texts and scholars I gravitate towards.
