2020-09-13 at 7:23 PM UTCI worked as a tech support supervisor for Time Warner, AT&T, Roadrunner, Charter and a bunch of others, supervising groups of up to 250 techs at a time on the front line, and the common theme was radical socialist brats, who really don't have a clue what they are doing, and who constantly whine and complain and lodge groundless complaints against their fellow workers, mostly brown-nosers, sluffers, liars, full of excuses, often absent without leave, unreliable, undependable, inept, filthy, sexual and social deviants, the list goes on and on. I used to spend hours writing up reports on them. It's like babysitting a bunch of 5-year olds.

I've had the same experiences with Igbo (apart from the ex I posted about on zoklet who was not into IT but was Igbo and came from a very good engineering family, she was very creative but at the same time scientifically minded, I kinda miss her sometimes, I DIGRESS). Hausa seem to be more on the straight and narrow but only when I tell them I'm Muslim and prove my value.
IT is a progressive industry, funded and backed by typically progressive groups, causes and organizations, it's likely just toeing the line of where their funding came from. I remember it was progressive groups that tried to get coal miners in west Virginia to become coders and the amount of money they threw at the program was astounding given how few they actually managed to successfully train. I think it's a great program though and skills transfers are extremely important -

IT isn't funded by "groups". It's funded by the individual companies who hire people and buy systems to run their business. -

In all seriousness, it really comes down to what area of IT we're talking about and at what level. Your average network engineer at a medium sized business isn't any part of an externally funded group. However cyber security start-ups for instance, often times get seed money from INQTEL, the CIA's Venture Capital arm. Especially if they are developing tools that can be leveraged by the intelligence community.
Then you have academicians, the people who actually practice Computer Science in the true sense of the concept and the research that goes along with that. Those people often times receive grants from special interest groups or the government.
Those are some examples i can think of, off the top of my dome(head).The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire!
