Originally posted by Speedy Parker No, Paul Ryan was the Speaker of the House. He was part of the DC establishment and a RINO. He opposed Trump for two years. In the Senate John McCain fucked him on Obama care repeal.and a few other key issues. And nobody needs to spell out the outright refusal on the part of Pelosi to work with him on anything. After creating the greatest economy in my life and perhaps my parents lives as well in the face of that resistance and having it almost tore in half by COVID shutdown and while still in shutdown 9 million new jobs wer created in the US. Imagine what he could do if the house and the senate wanted to help him make America greater tha never?
It wasn't just John Mccaine, a lot of Republicans didn't want to repeal Obamacare because for all its faults, Trump didn't offer an alternative. They probably calculated that more voters would lose coverage than would benefit from it and didn't want to risk losing their seats.
As for the economy, I'm finding it very hard to believe that it was all that successful - Wall Street's numbers don't necessarily reflect benefits to average people, considering the middle class is ever-shrinking and huge chunks of people are out of work (even more have had to take much lower-paid jobs) due to the covid response

The economy he built before covid is the only reason the shut down didn't cause another great depression. To pit it in sleepy Joe's words...

Far from being the “Best economy ever”
Trump continually says that, “the U.S. is experiencing the best economy ever.” This is obvious gaslighting since the new results show that President Trump’s best year of job growth was 2.314 million in 2018 (the first year of the tax cut) but it falls short of any of Obama’s last three years. His boasts also don’t stand up when you peel the onion on GDP growth and realize that the Federal deficits during his Presidency will exceed any that were not impacted by a recession.

Excellent graphs😁 -
2020-08-25 at 1:33 PM UTCDamn what an informative article.
Obama created 1.6 million more jobs than Trump over a three-year period
It is harder for companies to find workers and it is later in the business cycle. However, Trump’s boasts about how many jobs he has added don’t include that he has generated 6.5 million jobs under his Presidency vs. the 8.1 million, or 1.6 million fewer than Obama did under the same timeframe. On average Obama created 43,000 more jobs per month than Trump. -
2020-08-25 at 1:51 PM UTCThey love talking about the economy Trump supposedly built without ever acknowledging the 70 something odd months straight of job growth before he took office lolz

2020-08-25 at 1:53 PM UTCHow is "job growth" a good thing if it isn't accompanied by increasing real wages?

2020-08-25 at 1:53 PM UTCYeah, no one is in here rebutting the truth.

I'm not trying to be smug, I'm pretty neutral on the whole thing and don't care too much who wins, but posts like this make me wonder if some people realise they haven't learned from 2016?
what the actual fuck this is the dumbest post Ive seen on this website in a while. "2016" multiple times for no reason. "when was the last time anyone was excited to hear bidens message?" so many stupid fucking things, every post I see of yours makes me cringe. I bet you listen to ben shapiro unironically and frequent incel message boards -

'more jobs' isn't necessarily a good thing if you're losing well-paid jobs and gaining minimum wage ones. that's not just Trump either; it's a facet of globalism and increased immigration that the largest corporations are pushing for.
why have one high-value employee with the power to negotiate when you can split his work into components that immigrants on less than minimum wage will compete for? -

You seriously think immigrants affect “Americans” good paying jobs? “you mong”.
Who is gonna do these trash paying, grueling jobs? Farmers would be lost without migrant workers.
Let’s say what you say is true. What has trump done to stop it? Build about 17 miles of new border wall?😂😂
Now you’ve never gotten personal with me and called me names that I can recall. Why start now? -
2020-08-25 at 2:21 PM UTCYou fucking know that immigration suppresses wages. Everyone does. Anyone who pretends not to is either 13 years old or arguing in bad faith.

I'm talking about increasing immigration in order to create competition for existing jobs, which in turn drives down their value. The sort of thing you're talking about is already low-value work so it's not too relevant here.
A better example would be Indian programmers, especially since much of that sort of work can be done remotely - for many kinds of work companies don't even need to rely on H1B visas for cheap, semi-skilled labour anymore. What was once specialist work can now be chopped up into small parts and contracted for literal pennies.
Also if you take the word 'mong' as a personal insult, you might be a mong -
2020-08-25 at 2:26 PM UTCAdding new jobs is never a bad thing lol. The problem is that when any politician advocates for increased wages, conservative morons start throwing around labels like "socialism" and THE REAL AMERICAN PATRIOT idiots evacuate their bowels on the spot.
And the idea that small businesses wouldn't be able to pay workers a required higher wage is a goddamn lie. More people across the country earning higher wages would mean more money being pumped into local economies across the board, benefiting large and small businesses. -

In the second quarter of 2011 the median weekly wage, according the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, was only $754. Between then and the 3rd qurter of 2106 it only rose only $77 to $833. From the 4th quarter of 2106 through the second quarter of 2020 it rose from just $833 to $1006 or an increase of $173 dollars per week or $8996 per year. More jobs...better paying jobs... Trump has doubled what happened in Obama's last five years and he did it in just four.
