Gaslighting is a method of psychological manipulation employed to make a victim question their own sanity, particularly in scenarios where they are mistreated. The term comes from a 1938 play and, later, a popular film, wherein a predatory husband abuses his wife in a plot to have her committed to a mental institution. He dims the gas lights in their home; then, when she comments on the darkness, knowingly rejects her observation and uses it as evidence that she’s gone insane. It’s a torturous tactic employed to destroy a person’s trust in their own perception of reality. It’s a devastating distraction from oppression. It’s insidious. And it happened recently when millions of people who had seen nine agonizing minutes of murder were told by an autopsy report that they hadn’t.

    https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/voices/george-floyds-autopsy-and-the-structural-gaslighting-of-america/

By inaccurately portraying the medical findings from the autopsy of George Floyd, the legal system and media emboldened white supremacy, all under the cloak of authoritative scientific rhetoric. They took standard components of a preliminary autopsy report to cast doubt, to sow uncertainty; to gaslight America into thinking we didn’t see what we know we saw. In doing so, they perpetuated stereotypes about disease, risky behavior and intoxication in Black bodies to discredit a victim of murder. This state of affairs is not an outlier—it is part of a patterned and tactical distortion of facts wherein autopsy reports are manipulated to bury police violence and uphold white supremacy. As Ida B. Wells said, “Those who commit the murders write the reports.” A similar conflict of interest between police departments and medical examiners offices continues today.

    As a proper answer.

Anyone, either from this site or not, taking a similar convocation of drugs that Floyd took, and then is narcissistic and selfish enough to get behind a wheel and drive absolutely deserves to die. At that point you are an imminent threat the everyone on the road and most people not on the road.

Going further, if like Floyd, anyone on this site is stopped by the police in their vehicle then refuses to follow basic police instructions to keep their hands on the wheel - if they were shot I would laugh at how retarded they were.

Floyd's death was decided earlier in that day, it looks like it's very unlikely anything the police did to Floyd helped his incoming death arrive a bit faster. He would have died with or without police, unless perhaps he crashed into a hospital entrance.

    Don't defend this scumbag.

It was the exact same shit with Trayvon Martin. These people didn't care about truth, or justice, they just wanted to make an innocent man suffer.

This is white noise. It isn't anything resembling a coherent argument and in the wake of the released body cam footage this argument steps into the realm of fantasy and wishful thinking. The quoted paragraph is the death throws of a failing ideology that is unable unify reality and its falsified way of seeing the world.

That body cam footage doesn’t change a thing. NO MAN DESERVES LETHAL FORCE IF THE COPS/COMMUNITIES LIVES AREN'T IN DANGER.

He's a scumbag for holding a shotgun against a pregnant woman.

As for the rest of your comment. I agree. I think it is noble for you to think like that. However George Floyd was simply not murdered, neither was he treated unjustly during his police stop. I don't understand how you can continue to pretend was was unlawfully killed when it's blatantly not the case.

What lethal force did George Floyd suffer? The closest thing was the neck restraint and like fuck was that lethal.

I wonder if when the officer isn't sentenced for murder or manslaughter, whether you guys will stop and think "maybe our ideological way we view the world is wrong" or if you'll just double down and put it down to systematic white supremacy in the legal system.

Yup that’s pretty scumbag, but that’s not what was happening that day. He had no gun and posed no threat.

Yes yes, knee to the neck of a man who was already subdued and in handcuffs is purely justified. Especially for 8 mins while the other officers are saying “should we let him up?..... he doesn’t have a pulse?”🙄

I believe most Americans will disagree with you. They came out in force to show their displeasure, and I guarantee they feel just like me, he was murdered.

Posed no threat. He was a threat he was on a lethal amount of drugs. That is a threat. I don't know why some people are so adamant to view the world through rose-tinted glasses.

Feeling has nothing to do with it. 2nd degree murder has specific conditions that must be met and the prosecution will fail to prove mens rea.

You’re joking right? The man was terrified and never made an aggressive move towards the police. Trying to get out of a car, while handcuffed, is not an aggressive or fatal move against a person. You seem to forget he was handcuffed this entire time.

Yes, yes, I’m sure the jurors won’t go by how they feel about what is presented to them.🙄. That’s what’s gonna really matter, right?

Ya’ll crack me up talking about “feelings” not affecting you. Total BS. You think you are thinking critically, and you very well may be, but don’t think your gut instincts/feelings aren’t ruling your thought processes. Yes, I know, men like to think they don’t have feelings, they think it makes them look like a pussy. So we’ll just call ‘em gut instincts to make you feel like a man.

When someone is outnumbered 4-5 to 1 and on the ground stomach first with their hands cuffed behind their back, they are not a threat. I would be ashamed to be one of those 4-5 and claim Floyd was a threat to me lol.
