Is there anything for audio similar to avidemux that allows you to edit a file and then copy it to a new file without compression?

Just don't edit it in the first place, revisionist.

What the fuck do you even mean by "copy it to a new file"? I can't even fathom an audio editing program that wouldn't have that as an option.

Just google "open source audio editor".

I swear to God, some people's kids.

Look at avidemux and how you can remove frames from a file and copy the video to a new mp4 container without compression

I don't know avidemux, but I'm absolutely certain there is a software suite that will do exactly what you're trying to do.

I just don't edit audio that often.

There's an editor out there that is open source and will let you do whatever the fuck you want to do to your audio files.

As a last resort, though, you can always find a CLI application that processes entire audio files.

If you face problems like this frequently, I highly recommend you learn to program... And go with Python. There's a 3rd party library for literally ever conceivable scenario.

I'm not talking about converting you dipshit.
I want to take an audio file, edit it and then put the data into a new container without converting the file like in avidemux.

By saving it in a new format you are converting it.

I'm assuming you're saving in a new format because if you're just trying to edit it and keep it the same format, you've reached critical levels of dumbass.

You really need to either demo avidemux and use the copy feature or get out of this thread.
You're making yourself look very stupid.

    Try another program.

If you've only tried one, you're kind of making yourself out to be the idiot.

Either the program you're using won't do what you're trying to do, or it will but you can't figure out how to do it.

    Either way, it's poorly made.

    Switch to something else.

Or post this on StackExchange or some shit.

You're thinking about something like audacity which is not what I'm talking about.

This isn't about taking an mp4 dile, editing it and then saving as a wav or flac file.
In avidemux you can remove frames from a file and copy it into a new container without coversion.
I want something like that for audio files.

I'm absolutely certain you can remove frames in audacity.

Audacity does everything any audio editor can do.

I'll be the first to admit I'm wrong if I'm wrong about all this, but I'm virtually certain that audacity will do anything you need to do.

Audacity would add compression if I took an mp4 file and exported to mp4.
The only way in audacity to avoid compression would be to export to wav or flac which would increase the file size.

Then save it as a wave, wtf? You can always convert from WAV to whatever else. There are websites that convert shit online.

Your issue is a non issue.

Actually Hiki is correct, even if he goes about expressing it in a difficult to follow way.

Uncompressing a file, editing it, and then re-compressing it may cause some very slight irreversible degradation of quality.

    Similar to photocopying a photocopy.

Usually so minor as to be irrelevant.

This guy did it 1000x with a youtube video.
