You must be a terrible and dangerous medical worker if you think surgeons wear masks for virus protection. They don't. They wear them to prevent the patient's bodily fluids from getting into their noses and mouths, and to prevent the same from entering the patient. They don't wear them to prevent viruses at all. To prevent virus transmission, they would have to wear a HAZMAT suit.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -

You must be an idiot to think a surgical mask is PPE. PPE is what the front line workers are wearing right now to avoid getting the virus. It’s the same PPE we used for AIDS/HIV (before they understood the transmission), tuberculosis, SARS, and many other viruses. -

I was thinking about making a mask that has no fi lter and just looks like a protective mask. Something that gives me no protection against this nasty virus. Just as a way to rebel back against the rule makers.

What you got wrong is surgeons don't wear masks to prevent viruses. They wear them to prevent bodily fluids from getting in their mouth and eyes. A mask won't do anything at all to stop virus transmission; any real doctor will tell you that. -

Just cut a piece of window screen and make a mask out of it. It will have the same effectiveness as a real mask, which is none.
