Yes, they are uncomfortable, hot, and need to be taken off to eat or drink. And yes, surgical masks (the cheapest and most commonly worn kind) do just about nothing to protect the wearer. However they do still protect others.
If we all wear masks as much as possible we have a good chance of beating this with the minimum of disruption.
No, they don't protect others. They don't protect anybody. They're absolutely useless in either preventing or even limiting spread of the virus. And everyone is going to get this virus. Only the idiots think they can stop the flu or the common cold. -

Yes and stopping 91% of the virus in a mask dramatically reduces your chances of getting the virus and prevents many from getting it. It is proven to work. All the states with mandatory masks are doing great compared to the states which did not.
My state has done a great job of flattening the curve. Texas is now seeing infection rates similar to Italy or NY at their worst, and they only just implemented masks. Hospitals are starting to fill up again. -

You idiot. If you have the coronavirus and you breathe through a mask, you are expelling millions of virus particles suspended in your breath. That cloud remains for 10's of minutes. If another person walks into that cloud and breathes any of that air, they get the virus. Viral load has nothing at all to do with that process.
In addition, everyone is going to get the virus, just like they are going to get the common flu. Who hasn't gotten the common flu? Are you that stupid, that you think there are people who never got the flu? Viral load has nothing at all to do with that fact. -

What you fail to understand is that load doesn't mean anything, because it only takes a single viral particle to infect you, and an infected person's breath contains millions of viral particles. The load of a person's breath doesn't mean shit, because it only takes a single particle from that person's breath to get infected, and their breath will suspend in the air for up to 10's of minutes. If even one particle from their breath suspends and you breath it in, you are infected; it doesn't matter how much they breathed past that one single particle you breathed in. -
