air conditioners

man idk about conditioners but I bought a kickass dehumidifier some years ago, it works great. Some guy with a website was doing some testing (maybe still is), comparing efficiency of various models. It was nice to see independent testing of products before purchasing.

The only reason DTE is fiscally responsible is because she's broke and fat with no prospects for a real job. Why would you even bring her name up to expose her to yet more ridicule?

Besides if you're paying $10,000 for an A/C, they need to supply a gallon of lube with the install. For $10,000 you should be able to get a high efficiency A/C with condensor coil, high efficiency furnace with a humidifier, media enhancement and programmable thermostat. Along with the new equipment you will get a warranty sometimes as long as ten years.

Thanks for the information guys. I shouldve said i was eyeing only the indoor portable ACs. I hate window mounts. It aint broke so i guess i wont fix it until it is, I was just curious if there had been technological advancements since i got that one. The few i looked at didnt seem to be quieter or more power efficient than the one i had.

What is SEER? I wanna find out how mine compares.

No, not really, and to add to that I've gotten the same brand AC of the last 20 or so years (Haier if you're wondering) and I've noticed the 20 year old one has needed no maintenance, where as the 15 year old one has had it's cord replaced twice and the power switch replaced twice, and the GE one got a new cord every year for like 6 years in a row until I put a Haier cord on it.

    What was the question?

You answered it, if anything i guess they are getting worse now. Consumer gadgets are similar. I never had to replace my cord though, whats with that shit?

I would recommend that a heavier cord is needed, especially if you intend on making the cord longer. A motor will draw approximately 6 times or more amperage starting over running. I would recommend going up at least to a 14 guage wire and possibly even a 12 guage if going with a 50 foot cord. Stranded, not solid, wire.

So a longer cord is a greater liability? I didnt know that, but i guess it makes sense. My cord is short so its probably why I didnt have problems.

It is always OK to oversize a wire. An undersized wire can cause voltage drop, overheating, fire, damage to components, etc.

NEVER undersize a wire or extension cord.

Cat5, 6, 7 network cable you retard, usually around 100m max or you will get a signal loss

Also HDMI cables will get a signal loss over a certain range but thats not my job
