It seems regular that some malfunction disengages the safeties and puts everyone's lives at risk, or some subroutine turns into AI and takes control over the ship.
And what's wrong with having a holodeck love affair anyway? Especially in Voyager when they're essentially stranded at sea the whole series. Wouldn't it be beneficial to just fuck a program? You can't tell me NO ONE in the federation does that besides the one autistic engineer dude. 'Writing' your own programs is easy as hell and they can just say whatever they want and make it appear. Quark had all kinds of sexy programs. Those holosuites were definitely disgusting
Also I bet the Ferengi transporters are like Google and collect your energy pattern data to sell to other companies. This is after making you pay to use them and after paying again to reconstitute yourself on the other end. -

Yeah thats accurate. Not that TNG isn't good but its a completely different show.
I don't think I'd have enjoyed DS9 half as much without TNG tho. Voyager can probably be watched on its own outside of a few references. I haven't finished it yet tho. -

Also the Sisko/Picard interaction is so interesting. You never really think that people would have animosity towards such an accomplished and respected captain, but I get it.
Whats cool too is in Voyager they visit a planet of ex-Borg who still have the chip implanted but otherwise act autonomously. They have some weird mind control/telepathy powers they use to control Chakotay.
I imagine Picard can still do that too considering you die if the chip gets removed. -

That's fair, I guess the defense I'll give of TNG is that no star trek has ever really wowed me with character development, if TNG isn't the leader of the pack in that dimension I guess that's why I'm willing to forgive it. On the other hand I thought it did the best in just setting up interesting high concept scenarios one after another that make you think -
