How has your practice been, and what benefits have you noticed?

I've done it on and off for the last decade or so. Early on I enjoyed some potent spiritual experiences that have stayed with me in memory, though those don't really occur lately. This past year I've had an unbroken streak, working my way up to an hour every morning now. I'm a lot more aware, circumspectively, of my thought processes and emotions, and this leads to better outcomes in a lot of ordinary situations I encounter.

I have the ability to visualize a red or blue ball in the center of my vision if I meditate for a few minutes.

I have the ability to imagine anything. it will appear as an overlay on real reality. It's only there in my mind's eye. But i can imagine things with great clarity, i just can't meditate.

I used to meditate every day, started about 8 years ago. Now I try to get 15 mins a day but usually miss a few a week. Makes me feel great, like I'm getting high. Very similar to a drug and makes me much calmer and helps with ADHD. More aware of thought processes and others as well. Helps me be a LOT more patient.

I'm pretty sure most everyone can do that... Right? I mean isnt it an integral part of our spatial navigation and creative skills? Sort of like what happens when you daydream and the image is there but not there.

I thought so too, but there's people that can't. I suppose some people just think in words. I think in words and pictures. I will think of some stuff and a visual representation of it will appear in my minds eye. It's an approximation of reality based on all my visual memories. I can extrapolate from my visual memory to think of things i haven't seen. Although i can't see logic. When i am programming for example i have to think very linearly, i usually intuit and think in concepts but when i am programming i have to think in a process. I can come up with things, then i have to think out the entire process, usually i can't be assed and i just start, in a way i am taking a big concept and applying small concepts based on things i've learned, until it works. If it doesn't i need to condense the concept into a workable process, which is very 'brain labor' intensive and i don't like to think that way but whatcha gonna do.

Anyway that's my theory of my mind.

I’ve really wanted to get into this manual called The Mind Illuminated that’s supposed to take you all the way through stream-entry, but honestly, I’m content with my method for now. It’s hard to justify much additional reading on top of buying a special cushion and sitting on it for an hour a day. Maybe the problem is that I’m lazy--perhaps I'll get there, I've found that I make more time for my practice in increments.

I know this is necromancy, but if i smoke hash or hydroponic chronic, reality will bend around my thoughts. Well not really but what i think becomes hyper real and i'm susceptible to believing my thoughts over objective reality.

The point is, hash doesn't stop my internal monologue, it just gives it magic powers. And i'm my worst enemy.

I'm already hyperconscious of my own consciousness. I tried mindfulness meditation for a while and realized I can "be like a mirror" on command.

sitting in a place where there's a good, natural breeze, can help. especially where you can see the curvature of the earth or horizon.

try to imagine people/birds, machines, any background noise, synchronizing with your emotions, both conscious and unconscious. all is mind.

you may be surprised at the results.
