My left leg bone was broken in 3 different places, with lumps of bone being torn off by tendons. You don't recover from that by being tough, you need to have the bits of bone screwed back on in their appropriated places.

100 years ago they lived the rest of their lives in agonising pain with severe limps.

And 100 years ago I'd already be dead anyway as I already had both Meningitis and Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

My ankle is still pretty fucked and sore. It's 6 months since the shovel attacked me, and I have heard that 6 months is about how long these things take to heal. Which means this may be as good as it's going to get.

Techno, was right when she said this was a big deal. By now even I am starting to doubt my foot will ever be fully normal ever again.

I haven't exactly been kind to it, slathering on NSAID cream and popping panadol and standing/sitting/walking at least 13 hours a day.

I am supposed to have surgery to remove some of the metalwork, but the anaesthetist is being a little bitch and wants me to have an echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) first. I have had like 30 echos in my life, none of them ever showed anything, but these pajeets want to cover their asses.

    Piss off.

I was on crutches for a few months. Now I'm well able to walk around, but I've gained some weight from not being able to exercise as much due to my sore foot. That sort of compounds the injury, so it's injury^2 - I lost condition and I also gained weight (meaning fat).

I'm slowly recovering, but it's tough, since I'm nearly 40.
