I just fucked up my ankle in some way or other

Last night was awful. It was far too hot, and the guy next to me is a drug seeking, pity seeking mental case of some type and was talking in his sleep and rummaging around. It sounded like wrestlemania at times

It felt like my whole body was inside the cast, and I dreamed I was a thing and was being cut up or chemically reprocessed. I woke up several times with no idea where I was or what I was doing here.

Jeez. That sucks. Also, always take the knockout option. If they over-do it, you'll die peacefully. If they get it right you'll wake up and with any luck you're hooked up to an IV drip full of morphine.

    I hate opiates though.

My ankle is still super weak and swollen. the problem is apparently ligaments, but the bone us recovering fine. I can put a little weight on it, but try to avoid it.

I wear compression stockings to work and apply lots of ibuprofen cream at night. Also lots of Solpadeine (panadol+codeine) and tramadol.

    Alcohol seems to aggravate it.

Can you get one of these fancy things? Crutches are hell for more than a day or two.

That looks handy, but you could fall over easily. At the minute I'm wearing a walker-boot whenever I go out. I have an old wheelchair I scoot around in at home, but it's not one of the ones you can push with your hands, it only has small wheels.

Pity there's no like exoskeleton thing you can wear so the whole thing doesn't even matter. Or an augmentation.

Supposedly it's pretty stable. At least you have a boot though. I must have skipped over that above. I was thinking you were tied to crutches 24/7.

How long will a full recovery take?

I'm sort of able to walk now, though my injured leg is still painful, weak and inflexible. I was able to climb the stairs today, and move back into my old room and bed, where I am now. The office/hospital bed room downstairs was making me sneeze, and starting to smell badly of dogs (the Pomeranians were sleeping on the carpet there, I think they'll miss me).

thats cool i didn't know they made ibuprofen cream. Ask if they have licodaine cream for my lower back it really helps.

I mostly use diclofenac cream, it's the same basic idea as ibuprofen but is cheaper and comes in bigger tube. Also the ibuprofen cream (nurofen brand) was harsh on my skin - maybe it's more concentrated or something, dunno.

I think I'm going to skip physiotherapy. I don't want to take the time off work for that shit. Besides physio is for fat and old people who won't exercise, while I'm walking around on my foot all day every day.

thats so fucked up. i have twisted/sprained both ankles more than a few times a piece but never broke either. only thing i lost was a weeks pay here there but was always back at work within a week to 10 days rest. some discomfort still for sure but had to do it to pay the bills and my slight problem with whisky lol:)have known a few that were in a cast for 6 or more weeks plus pain killers which would have driven me cray cray in a few weeks. good luck to you though...sucks to immobile for too long. i'm a lazy fuck but i gotta keep busy even if i'm at home.

any way get high or drunk in the mean time.

Had to crawl inside, in the cold and dark.

I'm in bed now. My mom was woken by my painful yelling, and is a little concerned.

It's most likely just a sprained ankle. I can't stand on it at all. I'll call a doctor in the morning.

I wonder how long it'll take to heal, also how I'll get around until it does.

Cross post from Wariat's retarded thread, which I thought was this one.

My ankle is still pretty fucked and sore. It's 6 months since the shovel attacked me, and I have heard that 6 months is about how long these things take to heal. Which means this may be as good as it's going to get.

Techno, was right when she said this was a big deal. By now even I am starting to doubt my foot will ever be fully normal ever again.

I haven't exactly been kind to it, slathering on NSAID cream and popping panadol and standing/sitting/walking at least 13 hours a day.

I am supposed to have surgery to remove some of the metalwork, but the anaesthetist is being a little bitch and wants me to have an echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) first. I have had like 30 echos in my life, none of them ever showed anything, but these pajeets want to cover their asses.

emmm ... you have pretty, girly feet.

dont worry, the swelling will go away after a year or so.

    eventually,

I honestly think I need to get the metalwork out quick.

My leg was so sore I could barely walk today. When I move my foot all around its normal range of motion the pain can be unbearable.

My fibula and tibula are wired together. That isn't normal.

I really think I need to get at least some of this shit out of my leg.
