2020-05-19 at 4 AM UTCWhen I was younger I hated my country for dubious ideological reasons that made little sense. If I did not hate it I displayed very little respect for it. I now love it and hate it at the same time, but mostly love. I just wish it would grow some balls mostly. It has the potential to be the most astronomically beautiful coldass non scandanazian country but it has a crisis of narrative for the direction, which has never been move away from the crown as quickly as possible. Fuck I'm high on edibles and am falling asleep.
I LOVE CANADA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -

Originally posted by Splam It is similar to 2A. It allows protestants to have arms to defend themselves. Incase they didn't teach you in history class, during the 1600s most of Europe was at war between protestants and catholics. They specifically granted the right to protestants so that they may have arms suited to their defence and as allowed by law. This right was the basis for the 2nd amendment. As with most old laws, it's worded a bit funny. "As allowed by law" specifically. Judges threw this defence out in the case of someone who didn't want to get a firearms license (we didn't always have a licensing system).
Again, the importance of firearm rights, is because it's the right which you use to defend the rest of your rights. It'll be the first domino to fall.
the way i see it the right to defend yourself against the government is different from the right to defend yourself from catholic pariahs. -

Doesn't matter. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assize_of_Arms_of_1181
In Canada, historically people kept arms incase of war with the US. Also to protect against Indians and predators.
When we disarm our own population, the terrorists win. Our ancestors fought to disarm our enemies of their weapons. A government deciding to disarm it's own citizens is effectively declaring it's own people to be it's enemies. Our government used to encourage the shootings sports, directly funding competitions where the banned rifles were used. It was considered an asset to have a population highly skilled in the use of rifles. -

The assize stipulated precisely the military equipment that each man should have according to his rank and wealth. The assize effectively revived the old Anglo‐Saxon fyrd duty. The Assize established restrictions on weapon ownership by jedis, terms of inheritance, and prohibition of exports of arms, ships and timber.
your missing my point.
in the US the stated purpose of freedom to bear arm is to remain free from tyranny while in canada and uk the stated purposes of freedoom to bear arm is to serve his and her majesty and their realm like good little bitches.
freedom to bear arms as royal subjects for their majestys defense is no more different than beimg armed governmemt goons.
and your expected to bear arm for your royal highness for free.
lol. -

Huh? Your purpose is to bear arms for a militia. Militia's back then fought Indians and the British. People the government declares criminal in the US aren't allowed to bear arms either. Meaning if you try to overthrow the government, your right to bear arms gets stripped away pretty darn fast. You have to be a subject in good standing to possess arms. Register for the draft etc. No different. -

no it simply means in the US if you decided to overthrow the governmemt you have to succeed before they manage to catch you and have you convicted.
like i said in the post i quoted, the freedom to bear arms in the US and UK (and canada its little bitch) is nothing but an illusion of freedom since it wont let you bear arms that are able to really defend yourself against governmemt forces.
and its worse in canada since your freedom to bear arms is not meant for you to protect yourself from your governmemt.
just some vague, ill defined threats such as bears, catholics, amd indians. and not for for your own benefits but for in the service of its majesty. -
2020-05-19 at 6:01 AM UTCYes. Same in USA. If you were allowed to own arms for your protection from government, they'd allow you to own fully automatic arms. How else would you defend against government agents armed with fully automatic arms? All they let you do is defend yourself from niggers, crackheads, and to train for the day you get drafted. In Canada we don't have these problems to that extent, so they don't allow firearms for self defence.
But yes the right is more extensive in the USA. If you tell a cop in Canada that you own guns specifically for self defence, you risk having your license revoked. Only three legal reasons for owning in Canada. Collecting, sport shooting and hunting. With this ban, collecting and sports shooting just took big hits. Gun clubs are liable to close, many of them survived because it was the only legal place to shoot an AR15. Big hits are coming to conservation revenue as a result. Not to mention the Long Gun registry here failed miserably after wasting billions of dollar of tax payer money. That was only to register guns. Now try to get 200k+ guns handed in and destroyed. With a government that's already near bankruptcy due to covid. It ain't going to happen. -

its up to canadians to attempt to defend their freedon to bear arms by actually bearing and shooting them when required.
because only when enough people die while trying to enfore gun grab will the gun grabbing legislation be repealed.
in real democracy citizens cast their bullets and put them in their ammo boxes. -

Not to worry. There's no legal basis whatsoever for the gun ban. The Clown and his clown posse will soon be voted out of Office by a vote of no confidence, the courts will strike down the unlawful and lawless order, and all will return to as it was. As an added bonus, the Globalist Clown, looking for a seat for himself on the UN Security Council, to make himself look important, will go to prison for obstruction of justice, tampering with evidence, blackmail, criminal conspiracy, embezzlement, making threats against the AG, theft, fraud and treason. -

you are confused and just rattled off a tangent
The "assault weapon" ban will probably continue until peter mckay is voted in and he will probably keep it in place because it's hard to get things back. It's amazing the long gun registry was even expunged, that and the elimination of some interprovincial tariffs were literally the only good things Harper ever did. I think McKay is the next PM and he keeps the ban because he's political stock the same as trudeau and doesn't believe people need freedoms
The "assault weapon" ban neglected a ton of actual assault weapons too. Oddly, most I noticed on the list had american manufacturers while NORINCO was suspiciously absent. -

Norinco's M305 rifle got banned. As well as Norinco's AR15. What they should do is switch production over to M1 Garands. They're still legal and share most tooling equipment with the M14s which are now banned. Of course, Trudeau plans on banning any semi rifles that take the AR15's place in sports shooting.
No actual "assault rifles" got banned. Assault rifles are fully automatic and have been banned since the sixties.
Afaik all the conservative leader hopefuls have stated they would repeal the ban. -

I was looking for type 56, 81's and SKS' so that seems pretty arbitrary they're doing it with those. It was actually a disgusting move to ban them from legal ownership in the wake of a tragedy. Fucking weird and evil
