It's a form of entertainment. I personally prefer table games especially poker where I have a little more control over my money than the lottery or playing slots. I get the appeal of it, it's no different than spending money on anything that brings you enjoyment. It's true though, playing the lottery is essentially retarded if you really plan on winning. Occasional ticket? Sure. Daily buyer? Retarded
