Every single video downloader extension I just tried is absolute garbage, confusing, very user unfriendly or outright doesnt work.
It wouldnt let me open my profile after I downgraded so I had to reverse course. The latest firefox ESR is 68 so that apparently is also too big of a downgrade for it to let my open my profile. After I upgraded again, FVD is no longer just disabled, it's now completely gone. Great.
DownThemAll, no longer functions. Chatzilla, no replacement for it. FVD, no replacement for it. So from what I see, there's no use for extensions anymore. Mozilla effectively trashed all the ones I frequently use. Time to find a fucking standalone program. Any suggestions?
Best solution is a script you can just point to the web resource and run if that's what you're asking. Check out the site that aldra linked.
Also, i guess the addons that i use are not representative then. I use mostly security and automation related addons. Think HTTPS Everywhere, NoScript, HTML5 Canvas Fingrprinting blocker. Some stuff to quickly set up disposable emails, some stuff to quickly look for archived materials if the page i am trying to reach appears to be altered or deleted. And a proxy manager, so i can quickly switch over between HTML and Socks proxies, and it allows me to point my browser at my intercepting proxy listener as well, with the push of a button. -

2020-05-04 at 8:40 PM UTCIm having a lot of trouble with this, but im retarded when it comes to kmmand line stuff. Installed windows installer, ran app as admin. It automatically closes. Open up Command Prompt, ran C:\Users\(name)>Downloads> youtube-dl.exe (youtube url)
And it says “Downloads” is not recognized as a 8nternal or external command
when i take out “downloads” , it says access is denied. -

if that was the case you should just download old version of firefox beta for all media downloading purposes.
the thing im looking for is how to backup installed add ons because mozilla has removed some of the addons that still works but is no longer available. -

2020-05-07 at 3:05 AM UTCA little trick to get around an internal firewall filter that sometimes works is to use Windows File Explorer to shell through to the URL. So you would go to Run, type explorer.exe, then once Explorer is loaded, type the URL in the bar at the top.

It finds the source video format, why don't you link a sample video here or something. Easier to look at the problem and give you a solution that fits your needs. IDM works fine for me 99% of the time. -

It didnt, when I fed it the link it just downloaded the web page, I tried advanced mode afterwards so I can select video only but that didnt detect anything either.
I cant link you to the sites videos because it's a course site that requires login credentials. -
2020-05-08 at 3:49 PM UTCDid you at any point mention the particular site in this thread?
I kinda skimmed through looking for that, because it can be pretty relevant.
I've used Python to jury rig like a dozen different custom video downloaders over the years for those hard to reach places. -
