I think carbon enhancements are designed for enhancementing out volatile organic compounds, like paint fumes. I bought two masks with them back in January - very expensive, but I wore one when working on restoring an old gate - they work great when painting, welding or using an angle-grinder.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -

I mean you could probably tape a paper bagover your face and accomplish a similar thing,but its still a good idea. Masks also keep larger droplets from infecting surfaces.
In any case, ive been having to wear an N95 respirator for 6 hours a day since late january, and i kinda dont give a fuck anymore. After a full day of that breathing through a straw,my chest feels like i have the virus anyway. -

That's interesting. Have you noticed any improvements in lung function when not wearing the mask?
I ask because wearing masks while exercising was becoming a thing as it was claimed that restricting airflow could improve your lung conditioning. -
