all this talk about a vaccine for example…there might not even be one. People have had Corona, recovered…and got it again…meaning a vaccine might not work.
The cold is a corona virus…there ain't a vaccine for that.
Exactly.
Nature's way of: Survival of the fittest and/or herd immunity.
I've been touting this all along. If a person isn't well enough to survive- they'll die, period. Mother nature doesn't give two chits about anyone's feelings or preventions- Nature will just go on about it's business, as per usual. -

Yup, this has played out in nature since the first life appeared...Dutch Elm Disease, RHDV etc etc.
It was/is just a matter of time till one comes along and wipes out most of us...we are lucky in the sense this one although very contagious isn't particularly dangerous.
Instead of a 2% fatality rate it could have been 70%...maybe next time. -

"A vaccine to prevent the common cold has been difficult to make, primarily because there are more than 200 different varieties of viruses that can cause colds."
anyway if your interested.

I was exaggerating, I guess you haven’t graduated from basic to intermediate communication yet.
When “nobody knows what the fuck is going on”, isn’t it better to err on the side of caution. You basically said earlier you think we should just let it be survival of the fittest, are you really sure you wanna roll that dice when you don’t know whether or not you’re one of the ones deemed fit enough? Like you said we don’t know a lot yet but there seems to be enough indications that this virus can have a wide range of effects on different people. Some never develop symptoms and don’t even know they have it over the entire course of infection, whereas some see their health deteriorate very quickly. Obviously the most at-risk are older people and those with preexisting conditions, but there have been plenty of cases of healthy people in their twenties and thirties dying too, which basically never happens with the common cold or the flu.
Also the fact that people may be reinfected doesn’t by itself preclude the possibility of a vaccine. If they do create a (effective) vaccine, it doesn’t matter how many times you’re exposed, because you’re immune. That’s what a vaccine means.
And the reason they haven’t cured the common cold is because it’s caused by like 200 different strains of different viruses. The new coronavirus is just one strain that they’re focusing tens if not hundreds of billions of dollars in research toward, worldwide. There’s nothing preventing some pharmaceutical company from curing each and every strain of the common cold, other than the impossible amount of money it would cost with basically zero hope for a return on investment. -

Stop lying. 2,803 people aged 18-42 die from the flu every year. Over 100 deaths a year for ages under 4. -
