2020-04-10 at 2:24 AM UTConly one person on this site ever has or ever will present/display an actual government-issued law enforcement badge/shield, legally possessed, to a uniformed police officer and not get thrown on the ground, hand cuffed, and butt fucked.
the look on the cops face was priceless. should have had a video rolling. -

Yeah, just volunteer with some charities, get involved in the community, go to some police open days, and then apply as soon as they are hiring - preferably as an LGBTQ candidate.
It's a great job and I don't think cops are evil or something, all my interactions with cops have been fine, even when I was doing something wrong.
The pension is a huge benefit, they get insane rights, and those benefits aren't ever going away cos the government need the police. -
2020-04-20 at 7:28 PM UTCWHEN DO WE GET THE GUNS
I saw a cool job listing in my home town for working in the police armory maintaining guns. I'm sure there lots of stuff to do behind the scenes that doesn't involve being a traditional officer. It's probably easier to get into if you're a mechanic or something to work on the vehicles, or maybe a computer guy. -

Oiling guns up all day long would be pretty dull. -
2020-04-20 at 7:32 PM UTCI think you also had to hand out the guns to the officers at the start of the day and do purchases for ammo and stuff. It was pretty involved and they wanted every license and certificate possible and lots of experience.
I think it said something like background in law enforcement is a benefit but not required -

Think about volunteering for one of these.
Welfare programs typically look positively upon volunteering - which is good - as you are both building skills and becoming socially integrated. -
