what do you mean where was I for her before that? I was there when she was born... and I went to her mothers doctors appointments, and I've seen her a bunch of times.

You do realize that this money is a fundamental right of the child's and not anything the court can absolve you of? They can still decide you have to pay child support. If your baby mama dies and her husband or whatever gets custody now, you could be paying child support to him, or to her mother or father or grandma or whoever. Your attorney didn't tell you the whole truth if you think you're somehow off the hook for good.
