Not even joking, find your local Indian store and search for spice boxes labeled SHAN. They are for every kind of food and they are the best. If they are not available, National is a serviceable substitute but definitely a step down. Other than that, reject all other brands (such as MDH).
Follow the instructions on the back and you'll get high quality food every single time. And not even joking, better than the best restaurant you could find.
My recommendation for a "curry" would be either Chicken Korma or Chicken Nihari, both available through SHAN.
All the boxes are, are a way to reduce the anal pain associated with subcontinental cooking by premixing the spices. So rather than buying and measuring 18 different spices, you can just use the packet. The important work is in making everything else and executing the recipe.
Later you can start riffing by adding more spices etc to taste.
