The Chinese have no cultural proscription against "staring". So, when I lived there and taught in a university out in the sticks, I was routinely stared at as I was often the first white man they had seen in person (this was in the 90s). I had a black American friend who taught at the same university I did. When we walked down the street together, the Chinese didn't know which of us to stare at first and the effect was comical with all these heads snapping back and forth coming toward us on the sidewalk. We stopped and played a game of pool one time (they had all these pool tables on the sidewalk all over the city, for some reason) and we drew such a crowd the police had to come and direct traffic. But even little kids stared at us and no one "taught" them to do that. Society didn't socially construct our racial differences. Everybody's eyes told them immediately and from a distance that Darryl and I were of two distinct races from their own.
The big question I have for the race-is-just-a-social-construct crowd isn't whether what you say you believe is true--even a six-year-old Chinese can see race is absolutely real in a biological physical sense--my question is "why"? Human history is littered with whole civilizations believing the utmost absurdities even to the point of their own extinction, and I wonder where these beliefs come from. Cui bono? -

In the opinion of Mr. Geis, the RJBC was not viable as a drug treatment program because it doesn't mimic his drug treatment program. This is a little like a high school football coach, after he's played a round of golf with Tiger Woods, to remark, “Now, I'm a pretty good judge of athletic ability—just look at all the people who call me “Coach”—and I have to say Tiger would never make one of my teams. Heck, in the game we just played, he didn't complete a single pass!”

Legal or illegal; prescription or over-the-counter; purchased on the dark web or in a dark alley; supplied by the government and dispensed by Mr. Geis or supplied by a cartel and dispensed by a street dealer; all drug use is motivated by the one single desire to feel better. There are no such diseases. Conditions such as sickle cell anemia are only found in a particular population that happens to be part of a larger population that is categorised as black. Not all black people have or get it and under the same conditions a white population could easily react the same way to the presence of malaria.

Nothing you said contradicts race being a social construct. It is a pre genetic social sorting system.
Nonsense. A race is nothing but a really large, very extended family. In the same way my siblings and I share more ancestors--and more recently--than any of us does with any other persons on the planet, another white person and I share more ancestors more recently than either of us does with any other person of another race anywhere on the planet.
If it is reasonable to say "race is a social construct" then it is reasonable to say "family is a social construct". And to the extent it is reasonable to say family is a social construct, the response becomes: so? Whatever that means, it doesn't mean family doesn't exist. It doesn't mean family's not important. -
