making 4k tv's affordable for me.
Do you know how much a 19 inch CRT screen was in 1970s? 400 bucks or more. adjusted for inflation thats somewhere between 1600-1800
Electronics were super expensive. we bought a floor console TV with a HiFi turntable and speaks and radio built into the top with the cabinet door to hide the TV screen. it even had speakers that lit up. I think my parents paid 500 for it (used) making payments to a family member or friend who formally owned it. probably 1200 easily then, 4kUSD today. and I think it was 22 inches not 19 and color of course.
since 2000-2002 TVs have been mad improving. I remember the first Flatscreen I had was a Monitor but used for TV with tuner. like 720p
the 720p was amazing to watch at first but I missed the old tv affect. we also bought a Back Projection flat screen that was 4:3 but had double line resolution. it repeated 420i but simulated to almost 720 with a progressive digital comb enhancement which made our first DVD movies (before blueray) enjoyable to watch and even the VHS looked better on it. it was analog but the digital comb improved it.
fucking 8k TVs man
12k is the next step. 12k TVs can be full Theater size. 8k is big enough to project a 600 screen which is the smallest theaters have. but 12 will be the larger screens for sure.

I was watching Muse channel (or the show was called muse) and they had lots of good new indie rock that reminded me of new stuff in the 80s. like stuff you wouldn't remember unless you heard it because they were probably college students that didn't set out to be musicians. so one or two albums and you never heard from them again.
Manchester during the 70s and 80s was great. The Fall (RIP Mark E Smith), Chameleons UK, Joy Division/New Order, The Obligatory The Smiths, not sure of The Cure was from there, I think Talk Talk (RIP Mark Hollis) was from there, Oasis, Simply Red.. a bunch of others. I like a Band called "Crispy Ambulance" they have an interesting dark sound.

2020-11-28 at 8:48 PM UTC in Anyone heard about the state wide cerfew?I dont know what is going on in Berkeley. these roads have been closed to through traffic for almost 6 months now near downtown or even as far as half a mile away. Yesterday half of University Ave (The Main Street going east and west) was closed off with police cars. Like some big Hollywood Event was going on" there was a Cal vs Stanford game. but thats like half a mile east up in the hills to their field. and it wouldn't make sense to close University because its the main street to get in and out. all of the side streets to it are small bedroom community with narrow lanes and blocked off streets (permanetly for kids to play) so you have to do a lot of zig zagging to get around. anyone who doesn't know Berkeley would get lost real fast. and the fucking Waze and google maps don't show streets blocked off half the time.
strange times. I hope this shit ends in 2 months times. and the Government needs to start kicking out multiple 1500 dollar checks all at once. like 3 of them. and maybe even a new extension on Unemployment benefits.
I literally would have lost my brand new car had I not got a bail out settlement. I was flat broke with 200 bucks in the bank and 2 weeks before the car payment was due.

I came in the office and some new guy was in there. though the same friend that would visit this Boss also came over and visted the new boss often.
but the new boss was chill. both of them were ok but the new boss was legit trying to be supportive knowing all the Shit I had going on at the time. well still do.

I just remembered this looking at that. and had his asian friend over. and my head was making weird wawa sounds like someone was fucking with me. and then he turns this on and looks at me and says "Hey, you ever watch that movie Christmas Story" and I said "Oh yeah, its a classic now"
and he said "Did you think it was funny" or something , not verbatum but something like this. and I said, yeah I guess. all I culd remember was the classic line of the kid asking Santa for a BB gun and Santa saying "No you'll shoot your eyes out with it, Kid" but then again everyone else said the same thing. and something about a lamp being a womans leg in stocking.
then he turns this part up, his friend was there and his friend was yelling "WHAT THE FUCK.. THATS FUCKING RACIST" and he said to his friend "Yeah, but some people like (points at me) like it, he probably doesn't remember this part though"
looking back, I think they were in the office and thought of ways to fuck with me. it was a DVD he put in. they probably thought it would be funny. because he puts it in and it just happened to come up on that very scene? -
