   Everyone is wearing masks now, at least indoors.
   
   Yes, they are uncomfortable, hot, and need to be taken off to eat or drink. And yes, surgical masks (the cheapest and most commonly worn kind) do just about nothing to protect the wearer. However they do still protect others.
   
   If we all wear masks as much as possible we have a good chance of beating this with the minimum of disruption.

   There is no mandatory quarantine period here. However I did have to fill out a form with an address I could be contacted at, but got away with just booking a hotel for a few days.
   
   I'm not complaining about a free test. It was just a throat swab btw, is that not unusual?
   
   I might try to get a test on my return to Ireland, and quarantine, but I was quarantining already, so there will be no difference.

    Every government fucked up. Corona is spreading so fast in the USA as, unlike every other country on earth, you don't have the concept of sick leave, publically available healthcare (you do have various social programs which are reserved for boomers or blacks, but not for the needy) or a culture of civic responsibility - at least in almost all locations and demographics. Also you are the centre of a global empire, so have a lot of people who must travel as a result of work.
