It's 2pm in Athens. There's an old saying that "only mad dogs and englishmen go out in the midday sun". I got advised to stay inside during the hours around noon earlier. I was going around sweating like crazy. I sweat a lot, even back home, but I was pretty sure people were looking at me like I had The Flu, and that just made me sweat more.
Mediterranean people are super lazy, walk slow, spend all morning and night hanging out with friends, and don't really feel the need to achieve anything. There's no real tech sector to speak of here.
Athens is covered in gaffiti too. Like really bad problems. It reminds me a good bit of Nairobi or Mombasa, except in those cities there is less graffiti - people can't afford spraypaint. And unlike those cities Athens feels very safe.
I've pretty much stopped giving a shit, and have been talking to a lot of people.
There's people who are quite scared still, and can afford it. They stay at home, wear masks when they go out, and try to avoid interaction.
There's people who are scared, but have to go out. For instance a hooker in Amsterdam didn't want to suck my dick without a condom because she was scared of Corona. I don't think she got how it worked. By the way my story has a happy ending, she did suck it once I washed it. A lot of small shop keepers and service workers fall into this camp.
And there's the Coronavirus atheists, who don't give a fuck and are living like this whole thing isn't even real. I admire this group the most. They go to pubs, have fun with their friends, go on holidays, and you know they'll be just fine.
And there's the bullshitters, the Priests of the Plague who are trying to keep people scared of what is basically just a GMO flu. They are heavily ideological, but not really in a principled way - they basically get off on telling people what to do.
I am full of religion and have no impure thoughts.
Kinda like Occupy Wall Street. The thing about these things is that they always fail in establishing the basic machinery of a functioning organisations. CHAZ got some things right, they set up a border and a wall (walls work), but they got flooded with trash - both people trash, and literal trash. These things always wind up too dingy to stay in, and have to close down. No surprise. Leftism is fundamentally a dingy, depressing ideology with a dingy, depressing vision for the future. People don't want to be around that, even lefties.
This is what was always going to happen, and you need to allow these things to play themselves out. Cracking down on them might feel good, but it's counterproductive, kids need to be able to learn their own lessons, and CHAZ was fundamentally harmless.
