Pears you get commercially are usually artificially ripened inside a cool store, for logistics purposes. They won't survive long if you pick them straight off the branch but they do taste really good. -

I'm not really anti-Russia. I think these days they are a fairly rational actor. I definitely haven't agreed with every action they've taken but given the constraints imposed on them by the US I find it hard to criticize too much. The idea that NATO - in 2020 - should still exist and still apply military pressure to the Russia when it's sphere of influence has shifted eastward from east germany to belarus is completely ridiculous and counter productive.
It's a completely different situation from China, who act irresponsibly and seriously threaten stability due to their inner party struggles manifesting outwards, but people always want to conflate the two
