    YEAAHYUH

I mean, honestly it was kinda funny that that was enough to produce a hit single.

Kind of like how it's satisfying when someone runs their dog in an election and it gets a bunch of votes or whatever. It's a satisfying showcase of the absurdity of the system

I do better in an environment where I have a boss, but I don't want a boss.
    I don't know why I'm so unmotivated. I don't think I'm lazy. I like learning, I just don't like working.

Why do you need to do it? Is it something you want to do or something where there's a negative external consequence for not doing it? If it's just something you want to do but can't motivate yourself to do you can always just give up on it, typically people don't have a hard time doing things they actually want to do. I think the mindset of "doing it because it's good for you" is something of a pathology, and generally a very unsustainable motivational strategy.

I remember in highschool I was an edgy little cunt and wanted to read Nietzsche because, hey, that's what edgy little cunts do. I tried and tried to get through thus spoke zarathustra, tried every tick in the book, rewarding myself for reading a few pages, blocking off time to do it, unplugging all the electronics so I wouldn't get distracted. It was a slog and I gave up half way though. I realized I didn't actually want to read the stupid book, I just wanted to say I had read the book. It wasn't until many years later that I had kinda read "around" Nietzsche that I started to have a genuine interest in what he had written and when I picked the book up again I got through it in like two weeks, which is pretty quick for me.

It's hard to do things for external reasons, empirically we can't do very much of it for very long (the "ego depletion" theory of motivation is pretty well supported). Doing things you want to do is easy though, no one has ever need positive visualization or time management skills to eat a bowl of ice cream. If you haven't sufficiently convinced yourself that the thing you're trying to do is worth doing then you're just going to be fighting yourself every step of the way. If you don't want to do something and there isn't a natural external force that's pushing you to do it then just don't do it. Life's too short to spend struggling to get yourself to do stuff you don't want to.

But actually, do you think it would be possible to write some server software where you send it instructions and it swaps out some songs on the GPM cloud for other ones for you? You'll still need to be running a server but you can just piggyback off google

Yeah, it wouldn't be hard although you'd have to make the determination on which ones to swap out somehow. Like you could send some command to remove X album and upload Y and use GPM like some kind of cache layer. I guess it gets you out of needing to deal with playback and associated UI but it seems like a lot of hassle for what's supposed to be a convenience service.

Like there are next to no historical roots to trace. People are all like "african music tradition imported syncopation" but that's pretty much bullshit. You can't listen to a modern rap track and tell me there's cultural continuity with anything african. Jazz is the native american artform.

I actually have some sympathy for nativist arguments in concept. A premise of multiculturalism is the right of people to their culture and if you look at how cultural politics have played out in Europe in the last decade it's easy to see European traditionalism as being under an assault of kinds. So despite being perpetually at odds multiculturalism and nativism actually have some ideological common ground.

But that's why makes black culture interesting, it's not an "invading" culture that's displacing a native one. It's novel, local, and strangely dominant (difficult to disentangle form youth culture) in the US. Like if you really have an ideological commitment to preservation of "american" culture black culture shouldn't bother you, at least in a displacement/"corruption" sense. If anything the "white american culture" less pure, filled with European influence.

I don't get why niggas get all up in arms over Lil Pump. Lil Jon was normalizing clinical retardation in rap like what, 10 years ago? And fools who are upset over lil Pump get all up on lil jon's dick. Same shit yo.

Also I used "lil" way too many times in this post.

Be a man and run your own music streaming server. Don't be a little bitch and pay your cooperate overlords a monthly fee for access to art that should rightly be yours!

I love SWAT but can't really come up with a reason to play it over commando.

Yeah, SWAT was a weird addition. I still don't really get what they were going for from a game design perspective.

Support has a low skill ceiling but it also has a high floor. Basically you learn how to do a popshot and the timings for RoF, reloads, and stumbles and you're done. It obsolesces SWAT, and commando because it can solo heavies and trashsweep while the other two classes have to pick one, by max level ammo constraints are pretty much a non-issue.

The real problem I have is with most of the players - very few seem to play it as a team game and more or less just rush off to try and get to to the top of the kill list, which is just annoying in hard but actively fucks the team beyond that… especially if you end up on a team with 4-5x sharpshooters or something like that

Yeah, playing for kill counts is frustrating. Usually once you get far enough in people will realize not to be such assholes but the first 4~6 levels is people being wankers. And that's kind of my argument for KF1 style balance: you should have some degree of survivability if your team is retarded and gets themselves killed so other people doing badly isn't an absolute death sentence for you or a minority group of players.

As for individual skill it does make a difference if the team sticks together and doesn't do retarded shit, but I think it's good that it's a lot harder to 'carry' a team now - zeds and bosses seem to have been redesigned in such a way that you need a variety of perks to get the job done

I do think the boss design is much improved. The boss fights in KF1 where you basically had to die if you drew the short straw as a DPS perk and did the most damage to the boss were frustrating. But for normal play I feel like low-skill perks that are biased towards quick, inaccurate, hipfire strategies are unreasonably advantaged over higher-skill accuracy or timing based perks.

    wait, is it not working?
  12. F.E. Allen P-TRANNY
I always assumed the tongue thing would work but there doesn't appear to be any documentation of anyone actaully managing to kill themselves that way.

    Who would have thought?

Sweet, I'm lrogers54 (the static name thing) with "Made In Tarth" as my "sceen name" or whatever the one you can change is called, hit me up.

Also I have mixed feelings about KF2. There are a lot of improvements of KF1 but the skill ramp seems fucked. Honestly my position is that it doesn't exist: success on top difficulty is like 20% luck and 80% teamwork, individual skill counts for something but not a lot vs. KF1 you could carry on any difficulty if you were enough of a motherfucker. After getting reasonably good at KF1 that kinda irks me because I mostly play matchmaking and it's basically a lottery of getting a good team or not, although usually it's not since you might get one other player that knows how to play and four that don't. On the other hand, it does make perk variety better (you no longer need one of like two or three team compositions to function) and it encourages teamwork (no one runs off and saves themselves if they think that can finish the round alone because no one can as a result of the games mechanics) so on the whole matchmaking is a lot less toxic. But yeah, at the end of the day I kinda liked the old team mechanics, maybe I was just one of the toxic assholes, but it was more fun for me when there was more individual influence in outcomes.

Most of the interesting work in the Spectre paper relies on side channel discovery covered in other papers. Flush+Reload has only been demonstrated on Intel CPUs and seems limited to Intel. The Evict+Reload technique is a more nuanced strategy, I don't really know enough to make a determination, but at least it's not clear that AMD is vulnerable. AFAIK no PoC has emerged.
