Edit, the efficiency of distillation can be dramatically improved by increasing surface area, that's why some moonshiners in the Ozarks use large pipes instead of the thin copper tube. Common sense really.
Piping into the ground can create a natural condenser, as the ground temp is usually 68f or lower, although the moonshiners usually don't bother trying to cool the condenser -

Growers are often obsesssed with RO water, even though rain water has next to zero ppm.
Just sounds pointless. A rain catcher could easily catch years worth of water in one season and is way cheaper and less likely to malfunction -
