The issue is that kids don't know if they do or not. And neither does any one else... A large portion of those people don't end up transitioning, even when they went through all the procedures for medical approval at first, and regret it.
I'm all for helping them reduce their suffering with therapy etc but if it will fuck their shit up in the long run, then no.
Kids want to do shit all the time, kids have problems all the time, that's part of what being a parent is, helping them navigate those problems. If my kid feels like he has ice cream dysmorphia and he's immensely suffering from not having ice cream sandwiches shoveled into his mouth, my response wouldn't be to find a way to sustain him entirely with ice cream sandwiches, it would be to find out how to stop this urge for ice cream sandwiches that is causing them suffering by their absence. -
