Exactly lol. If anything, this country belongs more to Mexicans than any person of European descent. At least MY ancestors came from the same continent. Not saying that it does belong more to Mexicans or anything, just pointing out how little this kind of shit makes sense. That whole "send her back" thing was absolutely disgusting, with people chanting and whatnot. That was COMPLETELY Nazi Germany-esque. Ilhan Omar has literally done more for this country and been here longer than Trump's immigrant wife who got citizenship on a fucking green card marriage.
Something similar happened to John McCain when he was running against Obama. I think they called him a Muslim or some shit, but he shut it right the fuck down and defended Obama as a good family man. It speaks a lot for his character. This whole thing goes so far beyond the political dichotomy in this country. I absolutely hate that people like Trump and his base try to spin this as a political thing when the racism is so blatant.
Regardless, I have high hopes for this country. I don't think we are as racist as our president, for the most part. Only 26% of the voting age population actually voted for Trump. How many of those do you think were just hard party liners? Quite a bit, I think. It has long been known that this country is far more liberal than the people who lead it. That is why Republicans depend on the electoral college to win elections, and thus refuse to abolish it, and even enact policies to suppress democratic voters from voting. Such as that voter ID law that was ruled unconstitutional in Texas a few years ago.
Only country in the world that has an electoral college, btw. Every other democratic country, EVERY SINGLE ONE, runs on a direct democracy to elect its representatives. The situation in this country is such a multi-faceted mess that seems impossible to fix. I often switch between this feeling of hopelessness and downright anger. There's really nothing we can do to fix it other than support and vote for anti-establishment politicians who HOPEFULLY will fix at least some of the plaguing issues that are stopping America from actually being 'great again.' -

Locking illegal immigrants up is just.
Deporting illegal immigrants is just.
Keeping them in overcrowded quarters where they have to share beds is not just.
Sending children to court without their parents or a lawyer is not just.
Keeping them without showers is not just.
Denying them a quick trial is not just.
Detaining legal immigrants under the assumption they are illegal because of the color of their skin is not just.
I am not sure what else is going on as I haven't kept up with it too much, but this is a massive humanitarian violation that is going on. Not comparable to the concentration camps of Nazi Germany, or the Uyghur camps in China today, but it's still very fucked up and a lack of funding should not be any sort of excuse. Everybody seems to talk about this lack of funding being the cause like that makes it okay.
But it's not. Humanitarian violations are never okay. Everybody seems to accept that lack of funding is the main issue here, and not actually that we WANT TO or SHOULD BE keeping people in these conditions, yet we've got people like Trump publicly defending the garbage treatment in these places even though he signed an emergency funding bill for it earlier this month. But we've still yet to see conditions actually change for these people.
Nobody gave a fuck when people suspected of terrorism were kept in inhumanitarian conditions, because they were terrorists.
Nobody gives a fuck when illegal immigrants are kept in inhumanitarian conditions, because they are illegal.
The private prison industry in America is already a fucking mess of convoluted slavery and overcrowding. But nobody cares. Because they're criminals.
This sort of behavior is EXACTLY the sort of slippery slope that has happened all around the world, and yes, has led to the sorts of camps like those of Nazi Germany, or the ones in Xinjiang. We cannot allow any treatment of any human, even criminals, to fall below the standard of basic human care that any first world nation should provide as default for any within its system. We are not quite at the atrocities of a concentration camp, but there are clear humanitarian violations going on that need to be stopped dead in their tracks right here and now.
Trump absolutely has a sort of fascist, racist following that THANK FUCK isn't very strong, and will die out of the limelight when he leaves office. I mean, the dude literally has posted memes about him staying in office forever, and has expressed a desire to extend his term multiple times. That shit is un-American. Our forefathers fought tooth and nail to create a country free from that sort of autocracy. We're ticking all the boxes of a regime starter kit here. The demonization of select groups (Mexicans, jedis, Gypsies, Muslims, Christians, take your pick) is a prevalent theme in these sort of governments.
I can't believe there are some Republicans who actually support Trump staying in power forever. You know who just removed presidental term limits last year? Fucking Xi Jinping. Yes, China used to elect their president. It was a closed election in which only high ranking officials could vote in, so it was obviously corrupt as hell to begin with, but there was at least a sliver of chance that they could boot him out. Recently there has been a push in Russia to remove/ammend some article in their constitution that will allow Putin to 'run' for President again in 2024, and every 6 years after that. Are these really the governments we wish to emulate? -

I am planning to build a house out of skids/pallets since I seen some people who've done it before. I'm also considering other ideas. I may dig down and possibly make a sandbag house with a "basement" type thing, with a loft or something. All I'd need then is water to flush, which I could get from collecting rain water. I've seen, and helped do this exact thing before, and it's pretty easy. I have a few people who can help me dig the trench for the barrel. It's also situated on a steep hill, so it'll run off perfectly.
I also am getting some solar panels and batteries. I just want to be able to charge my phone/laptop, use some LED lights, and run a small fan/maybe in the winter a small space heater, although heat could be generated through other means, if it won't support that.
Anyone done something similar? Any ideas I could add to or modify? Any thoughts? I'd love some input to this project.
I have seen your craftsmanship in that dilapidated FL trailer you and your father "fixed up". You don't have the skills for this, and even if you did it would get torn down the minute police or another homeless person decides to fuck with you. Or, you know, a slight gust of wind.
You should get a netted hammock and a tarp instead. It will protect you from the bugs and rain while still being portable enough for you to hobble around. Or just buy a fucking tent like a normal homeless person. I mean, it's neat and all that you want to play house but let's get real here. Fucking solar panels? All you need is a solar powered charger. Stop spending money on dope and stupid shit like pallets and LED lights and start getting your shit together. Don't 'dig in' and plan for the winter, my fucking god. You should be trying to get out of your situation by winter. Have you just completely given up on life and trying to care for your son?
I'm usually pretty happy when I read posts about how fucked up your life has gotten, but this is really depressing. No human, not even you, should be living like this. This shack is just going to fall apart and possibly hurt you even more in the process. Put your efforts into something more worthwhile than a clandestine third world shack in the woods.
