I have trust in my ability to judge people. I trust them to behave as I think they ought to behave. That manifests in ways where you don't trust the person in the ordinary sense. For example I trust that someone who I judge to be in it for self interest will act in self interest. So if you tell them something that it would be opportune for them to divulge, they will divulge it, and conversely they won't divulge it when balanced against their self interest. You can count on that. They can be a useful store of information. They can also be an exceptional vector for misinformation. You can count on that. That's what trust is. -
