When they say, "because our enjoyment of our experience at their restaurant was the only thing that matter", what do they mean by this? I mean everyone knows that the reason the restaurant exists is because people need to make money, right? I'm genuinely confused as to whether this person is just so vapid and stupid that they are unsure of why restaurants exist, or they are just trying really hard to lie to themselves and keep up this charade with all the other normies that their lives are important and matter. Notice the last line: "we really felt like they truly cared about our dining experience."
So basically they are saying they were glad to be deceived by the restaurant, despite knowing in the back of their heads the entire time the restaurants purpose is to make money. They're not paying to eat, they're paying some waiter to pretend like they are important for a little while. To stroke their ego.
I went to lunch with some people recently and the waitress came and gave us our drinks and I said thank you as she handed me my water because it's habit, it's easy, and it's polite, and one guy got all irritated and was like "you know you don't HAVE to do that, we pay them so that we don't have to say thank you." Have I missed the point of eating out this whole time? Has everyone else already known that it's just an overpriced ego boost?
