This isn't about any individual. This is about society so stop using this thread as an excuse to off topic rant about people you don't like personally.
There are a lot of smart people here but nobody here is mega rich with millions dollars. The DH people might act like that but that's just the same attitude all middle management people have.
Some smart people put in effort their entire lives and end up nowhere. Kind of like the plot to breaking bad. Is it the failings of the individual or is it society requiring too much effort? Like if you just focus on your family and living a simple life you could easily lose everything by not keeping up with the rapidly changing technological capitalist society. Lots of older people had to be trained to use computers and if they didn't learn they became useless and are seen as unintelligent.
That's why there are DINKS. Double income no kids or people that have no desire to get married or have serious relationships because it's seen as a distraction from professional development and focusing on your career.
Like when I was in the dating scene there were so many females that just wanted to hang out and fuck and didn't want an actual boyfriend because they saw it as a distraction from focusing on their professional life.
