California property owners hoping to open new insurance policies are no longer able to do so with one of the nation’s largest homeowner insurance companies.
Allstate, the state’s fourth-largest property and casualty insurance provider, has stopped selling new home, condominium or commercial insurance policies in California, the company said in an emailed statement. It is the latest insurance giant to say it will no longer offer coverage, citing worsening climate and higher building costs that have made it harder to do business in the nation’s most-populous state.
California’s largest homeowner insurance provider, State Farm, made a similar decision last week, pointing to “rapidly growing catastrophe exposure.” Allstate stopped accepting new policies in the state last year, according to the statement. -
2023-06-04 at 2:49 PM UTC in World to hit temperature tipping point 10 years faster than forecastClimate change: the greatest hoax of all time. I mean, who needs scientific consensus when we can rely on wild theories and cherry-picked data, right? It's not like the overwhelming majority of experts in the field have dedicated their lives to studying this stuff. Nah, let's just listen to that one YouTube video from a self-proclaimed "expert" who probably has a degree in tin foil hat engineering.
Clearly, all those rising global temperatures, melting ice caps, and extreme weather events are just nature's way of having a good laugh at our expense. It's not like human activities, like burning fossil fuels and deforestation, have any impact on the environment. No, no, that's just a coincidence! I'm sure Mother Earth is just going through a rebellious phase and wants to spice things up a bit.
And those scientists warning us about the consequences? Pfft! They're just part of a massive global conspiracy funded by renewable energy companies. Clearly, they're all in cahoots, secretly plotting to dominate the world with wind turbines and solar panels.
Climate change is just a convenient excuse for governments to control our lives even further. They want to regulate everything, from the cars we drive to the hamburgers we eat. It's all part of their evil plan to suppress our freedom and impose their environmental agenda. I'm sure they stay up at night, laughing maniacally about how they fooled the world into believing in this climate change nonsense.
Climate change is just a grand conspiracy orchestrated by a bunch of scheming scientists, politicians, and renewable energy companies who are out to ruin our lives and destroy our planet. Remember, they can't read our mind so long as we keep out thoughts ScRaMbLeD. -

That's true. But it's even easier to just live in society and go camping sometimes. -

This is true, the idea of living off grid seems attractive to the modern city dweller because it appears to be an escape from modern stresses, but it would also abandon many if not most of the luxuries they often take for granted. -

Originally posted by aldra I never really liked fallout 4, didn't get far with it. didn't seem to have the desolation of fallout 3 or the interesting plotlines of new vegas, and felt like the early focus on power armor clashed with the setting
a friend gifted me the special edition, the one that was remade on the F4 engine (I think?), been playing that with an 8-bit video enhancement and a couple of mods. my favourite is the one where doing skooma gives you bizarre trips, kind of like the 'wild wasteland' perk in fallout.
Fallout 4 generally lacks the same level of story / writing as 3 or NV. But the gameplay is an improvement imo. And if you haven't played far harbour, the writing seems to be better than the main story. -

First played this a few years ago, playing through it again now.
Level 40 character, was playing through the main game super slowly, haven't traveled through the glowing sea yet. But decided to play through this DLC first. It's the only one I have for fallout 4.
It's pretty good. -
