Scientists and artists
are both mystics competing
in the myth business.
The differences between them
are mainly a matter
of professional jargon.
Acquiescence is not agreement, but resignation and tolerance of the incomprehensible. Psychology and psychiatry would be radically different if a grounding in elementary physics were prerequisite. These professions will soon be demolished and reconstructed by the hard science of Artificial Intelligence.
The soft sciences are not soft by their very nature, but because soft ideas attract people incapable of comprehending hard, mathematical concepts, and once soft-heads populate a profession, hard-heads move out of the neighborhood. As a consequence, the soft sciences degenerate into nonsense until they become too impractical to hold their customers. If astrology were not so soft-headed, actuaries would be calculating horoscopes instead of statistics.
The essential difference between the hard-head and the soft- head is concentration of mental focus. Whereas the hard-head defines particulars, the soft-head senses the overview. Both heads are half-wits if they cannot vary the scope of their focus to integrate particulars with wholes to comprehend both at once in a higher dimension of Consciousness.
Artists, scientists, and mystics who glimpse spirits dimly through the Veils of Maja limn a projection of the eternal entities into the human dimensions of literature, theatre, music, dance, architecture, engineering, philosophy, mathematics, justice, politics, morality --- in a word, culture. Like pictorial art, all cultural artifacts compress hyperspacial structures into fewer dimensions so that ideas are represented in more or less tangible forms. The form is the specialized language of its poet and the meaning of the form is the essence of the myth. -

I doubt it would change much. Most already smoke pot outside of work, and you won't be able to get away with showing up high at work any more than you can get away with showing up drunk. -

I believe you, but could you explain how they are terrible and meaningless? For example, I don't believe an Asian couple could give birth to a black baby. I believe they are different races, have different genetics. But if race is meaningless and terrible, why couldn't an Asian couple have a black baby? -
2017-07-11 at 10:31 PM UTC in Are you racist?
Originally posted by Captain Falcon No, there is no evidence to suggest that any "race" is biologically superior to another. However there are cultural and environmental factors at play that make, for example, the average Asian in the US smarter and black in the US less intelligent, than the average white.
The concept of race itself is retarded if you want to consider modern science.
If the concept of race is retarded what do people mean by "that Asian guy" or "that white guy"? -
2017-07-11 at 10:26 PM UTC in Are you racist?Depends what you mean by racist I suppose. I do think there are measureable differences between different races on the average. But I don't hate individuals simply because they were born with a different skin colour than mine.

2017-07-11 at 10:01 PM UTC in Axiom of a WarriorIn order to become a man of knowledge, one must be a warrior, not a whimpering child. One must strive without giving up, without complaint, without flinching.
One learns to act like a warrior by acting, not talking.
To be a warrior, a man has to be, first of all (and rightfully so) keenly aware of his own death. But to be concerned with death would force any of us to focus on the self, and that would be debilitating. So the next thing one needs, to be a warrior, is detachment. The idea of imminent death, instead of becoming an obsession, becomes an indifference.
Only the idea of death makes a man sufficiently detached so he is incapable of abandoning himself to anything. Only the idea of death makes a man sufficiently detached so he can't deny himself anything. He knows his death is stalking him and won't give him time to cling to anything, so he tries, without craving, all of everything.
A detached man has only one thing to back himself with - the power of his decision. He has to be the master of his choices. He must fully understand that his choice is his responsibility, and, once he makes it there is no longer time for regrets of recriminations. His decisions ares final, simply because his death does not permit him time to cling to anything.
A warrior does not abandon himself to anything, not even to his death. A warrior is not a willing partner; a warrior is not available, and if he involves himself with something, you can be sure that he is aware of what he is doing. For a warrior, there is nothing out of control. Life, for a warrior, is an exercise in strategy.
The spirit of a warrior is not geared to indulging or complaining, nor is it geared toward winning or losing. The spirit of a warrior is geared only to struggle, and every struggle is a warriors last battle on earth. Thus the outcome matters very little to him. In his last battle on earth, a warrior lets his spirit flow free and clear. And as he wages his battle knowing that he will be impeccable, a warrior laughs and laughs.

2017-07-11 at 9:55 PM UTC in bias and magical beliefsI don't really know I'm not exactly an expert on quantum theories or God. Are they? If they are, again, what about my post made you want to tell me this? What is the point you are attempting to communicate? Are you able to explain what you're trying to say to me in greater detail?

2017-07-10 at 11:42 PM UTC in Captain Falcon vs LannyHard to tell since I don't actually know what either of them are like in real life. Although Lanny seems to be pretty honest the majority of the time, I believe he is who he says he is and does what he says he does. He has a good job, seems successful, created this space for us to speak freely.
Captain Falcon is hard to take seriously. He appears to be a fun guy, maybe more fun than lanny, but I have trouble believing a lot of his claims about his life. I like his threads and posts most of the time.
I have played Minecraft with both of these guys. I have gotten into several discussions and/or arguments about various interesting topics. I have enjoyed having the opportunity to discuss these topics with both of them. They both seem like smart people.
For me the largest difference between them is that Lanny seems to be who he says he is, at least for the most part, while the Captian seems to be trolling around a little bit, having a bit of fun with it. Not sure which of those behaviors is the smarter behavior.
I just sat in my garage typing this out on my phone for like 10 minutes. -
