I used to pick them up all the time from the tail or use a stick to hold their heads down. coil up a shirt or use a jacket and let them strike it first, then with the other hand smack and hold their heads down and grab right where the head meats the shaft of the body and grab it by the tail .. they only have a three foot coil strike and about a 2 feet if holding by the tail.. so hold it straight out and put them back into the bush region or find a gofer hole and let them slither inside it. Or bash it over the head and go make some soup or chili out of them. good eating.
