However, I woke up with her at her parent's place last Sunday-closest-to-Christmas, and we (her, her parents, sister, and I) went to church together. Her family doesn't know that she and I are atheists. We did communion, which was weird. I kept my bread and juice in my mouth and spat it out when we left. It felt very disingenuous, and I would like to not do that again. So I have gone before... but not too sure I'd do it again.

It's true. I talked with him at length about it. Moving the edit text has not just his TOP priority, he's kind of obsessed with it.

I got about 150 hours in and I have owned the game 4 months.
Civ is so fun. I've got V and Beyond Earth, though the latter isn't currently working on my gaming rig. Sophie sounds like they play like one of my buddies. I tend to expand quickly too, but I focus on aluminum collection for stealth bombers. Nukes are good for destroying other country's nuclear weapons and for pillaging uranium tiles from afar, but beyond that, a wave of 10+ level 4+ stealth bombers and literally any ground unit will let you conquer the whole map. -

Can confirm, it's been early access for ages. However, it's still being actively developed, and the modding community has released tons of visual and functional mods to make the game better. For what it's worth, it's been moved from beta to beta, though unlike most other games that move in to beta, they're still adding features. It's also completely open-source ^_^
I can only confirm that single player is functional. I haven't spent enough time in multiplayer to know how many kinks have been worked out. There were (last I checked) long standing issues with desyncing on multiplayer, so some blocks, such as rotors and pistons, get their positions and velocities miscalculated and turn into explodium. Anyway, it's fun as fuck to make things in creative mode, and the game is playable for sure in survival.

The endgame is survival. Make awesome shit. Fight NPCs. Fight other players. Keep surviving. There's a scenario editor so people (mods or devs or whoever) can make their own missions, to give you some goal to achieve if you'd like. -
