If you give police only G3, AK-47 and Pistols, know that in any small situation, they might only use the same. Arm police with Whips, Pepper Sprays and tasers too. Guns are not the only weapons for policing. I will one day be an MP and I will push for laws to make sure that police have equipment and amenities to support their work. I sympathise with police gun victims but do we give the police much choice?
