no, war as we know it is a shadow of aggression and violence. it's just an industrial sectors. soldiers today are just unskilled labor, they're just machine operators.
you have some real issues if you believe that there's anything noble about any wars that have been fought in our lifetime. they're nothing more then the froth off the excess our 'technologically advanced' society produces. it's not violent or aggressive in any human sense. it's just hazardous. -

saving lives? so war negates that, right? if saving lives is good, war is bad, since war loses lives, and resulting discoveries simply balance it out, with a lot of bullshit in between.
violence is 'good' in that it's an aspect of the human soul. war is 'bad' as an ephemeral representation of violence caused by humans outsourcing their violent responsibilities to others.
the reason we have war is because we're unwilling to live in a society where people kill or fight with each other at will. but such a society is far healthier then ours, where millions of fat, soft, stupid, weak people just pay other people to go off and do their violence for them.
a society with no legal restrictions on killing or injuring other people would develop an honor culture out of communal necessity to regulate violence into a more noble and palatable form. see: sabre dueling culture in 1600's poland. eventually a more highly ordered form similar in structure to our one would appear, but it would be far more effective.
aggression is a good, violence is a good. war is an accident. -
