New Clean Gassing Method!
Gassing is a love hate kind of thing and none of the current methods seem to
perform consistently or safely. Some methods make too much and some make too
little. Most are difficult to control, more importantly difucult to stop. SWIVE
has rusted more tools and electronic equipment than he cares to think of. Had a
gassing bottle blow up once (hose clogged suddenly, while he wasn't watching) and
suck back can ruin your whole day. Most drain cleaner Sulfuric Acid contains
foaming additives that create a dangerous mess.
I have tried all the various gassing methods ie: Sulfuric Acid & Salt, Sulfuric
Acid & HCL, Aluminum & HCL, Air bubbled through HCL, but I've never been totally
happy with any of them. The methods using Sulfuric Acid always taste and/or smell
funny. The Aluminum & HCL is wet, week, messy and generates too much heat. The
Air bubbled through HCL is clean but is a little slow for SWIVE's taste. So SWIVE
started thinking how could he improve the process. After all we're just trying to
seperate the HCL from the water, right?
Introducing -> HCL over calcium chloride! Now before you start to whine about how
this won't work like your current method, try this.
Materials
(1) Plastic Wash Bottle
(1) Box of Damp Rid (calcium chloride)
Muratic Acid (HCL)
Something that needs gassing
Method
Take the plastic wash bottle and remove the center tube that runs to the bottom.
Fill the bottle 1/3 full of Damp Rid. Now carefully add muratic acid until about
2/3 of the Damp Rid is covered. Let this sit for 2 minutes. Your Done!
Usage
To gas you simply squeeze the wash bottle, thats right, insert the tip of the
wash bottle into whatever your gassing and squeeze. pull the tip out before the
end of the squeeze to avoid sucking whatever your gassing into the bottle. Repeat
as needed. You will be surprised at the concentration and dryness of the HCL
produced. You will also be surprised at how long that small amount of muratic
acid will last. Just shake the bottle every now and then and it will keep coming.
One fill usually lasts SWIVE several rxn's until a refill is needed. Clean,
simple, controllable and no liquid acid to accidenly spill or leak into your
product.
SWIVE used TFSE and did not see a mention of this method, so he thinks it is
original (pat on the back) Now where's the Hive Patent Office.

Pplexxed tried gassing in every feasible format he could ever find to read. P.S. Pplexxed has been here since the original TOTSE and the days when the HIVE was first buzzing strong. Mid late '90's.
What he dreamed that works for him is this and it's simple.
He takes a regular 16 oz soda bottle or even better the small 12 oz bottle if available. Calcium chloride he finds from prestone driveway heat. Ice melt on the winter isles at local store. He fills bottle, after thoroughly cleaning and thoroughly drying, halfway full of round granulars. The lid of the bottle he has already prepared. By simply drilling a hole slightly smaller than the tubing. He uses 5/16 OD tubing. I assume polyurethane. The kind of line you run water to your refrigerator with. Flexible but semi hard. The line fits in the hole in the lid very snugly. And it does not leak gas! There's no need to tape or glue or any other such nonsense. As this builds no pressure! He has a hot plate with a small pan full of boiling water sitting right next to where he's going to gas. He preheats the liquid to be gassed. As warm liquid accepts gas much better than cold liquid! Then he carefully adds one starter fluid cap of muriatic acid. The 31% bought off shelf anywhere kind. Screw lid on snugly. Wait about 30 seconds. Then to gas take pop bottle put just bottom of bottle in boiling water. Dry HCL gas comes out 'quick and thick'! Just as if it were aluminum foil in HCL but WAY dryer gas. The gas is very dry and it works very well. Then when he's done gassing he takes it out of the boiling water and sits it right beside him. Within about 30 seconds no gas is coming out to tube or if any very little. This one time gassing bottle works for anything from a very small personal amount up to his personal favorite the thousand pill 1 oz bubble. If you're someplace safe you can just cap the bottle loosely and it will not be an issue until you dispose of your trash. If you want to stop it completely and instantly. Simply fill it with water and boom it's done. Pplexxed had no patience for slow gassing procedures and this worked tried and true every time! As was stated this is a 'one-time' gassing bottle! Pplexxed did NOT enjoy the same success if trying to reuse or add more acid to bottle. You will end up with wet gas! And nobody wants that. Ingredients are cheap, pop bottles are free, so after bottle comes out of water do not use again! Pro tip once bottle is cleaned and dried and granulars added. With a cap on tightly it stores forever. So you can make what you need in advance and not have to mess with it at the time. Try it I think you'll like it it works very well! Each bottle one time do not reuse after comes out of water! Hope this helps someone enjoy! 😁👍
