You dummy, clearly you've been dropped on your head. The Sandmeyer reaction via GABA to GBL is way, way easier and OTC. GABA powder can be purchased online for like $15 for 2Lbs, NaNO2 can be had for about the same price. The yield is theoretically quantitative, but of course in practice mechanical losses will leave you with maybe 70-80% yield. Best of all no hydrogenation required.. not sure why you think the reaction your talking about is so amazing, it requires a plantium/palladium/rhodium ingot as a catalyst, unless of course your set up to perform a hydrogenation at 400c + and under extreme pressure.
